I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse practitioner. I have experience treating children, adolescents, and adults with a spectrum of psychiatric conditions. The entire focus of my practice is to provide that little extra--extra effort, extra diligence, extra commitment, extra courage, and extra creativity. The patients I have worked with throughout my career have given me a lot of strength, impetus, and inspiration. Their stories and struggles deeply impact me and motivate me to continue providing that extra care that matters a lot which addresses their physical needs and supports their emotional well-being. My years of practice in outpatient and inpatient clinics, hospitals, and correctional facilities have equipped me with the necessary tools to create an environment of hope through genuine empathy and compassion. I look forward to working and welcome any questions that you may have.
The first session will consist of initial psychiatric evaluations with the client's challenges as the main focus. I will ask the client a lot of questions, some of which may sound absurd to the client. This is to better determine his/her baseline and determine what is going on. I may also request the patient's recent health and physical results from their PCP including blood work. Patients are encouraged to bring copies if they recently had one done
One of my greatest strengths is my creativity and versatility. Having worked in crisis stabilization units, I know very well that people's mental health can rapidly deteriorate requiring urgent intervention like thinking out of the box rather than following routine protocols. I take enormous pride in knowing that my patients can count on me in times of crisis. My strong background in the sciences has helped fashion this creativity and enabled me to make rapid informed decisions in times of emergencies both individually and collectively.
I treat children, adolescents, and adults with a spectrum of psychiatric conditions. I am open to working with clients with new and pre-existing disorders. If you feel your current mental state is “just okay,” I am open to dialogue with you and exploring further ways of making you feel better.
I work in collaboration with the patient to improve his/her thinking patterns for the better. We talk about the patient’s problems, explore his thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and seek to improve his/her well-being through education, role-playing, exposure, relaxation, coping skills as well as stress management.
