New to Grow
Hi, I'm Nicole Barrett, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the owner of GraceFaith Counseling. I work with adults, teens, and parents who are navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-worth struggles, and feelings of being overwhelmed or stuck. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe therapy should feel like a safe space where you can show up exactly as you are without judgment. Together, we'll work to better understand your experiences, build practical coping skills, and create meaningful change. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic techniques, and parts work while tailoring treatment to your unique needs and goals. I also welcome conversations around spirituality and faith when they are important to you.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and determine whether we're a good fit. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, the challenges you're facing, what's working, what's not, and what you'd like to achieve. You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. There is no pressure to share more than you're comfortable sharing. My goal is to create a supportive, relaxed environment where you feel heard, understood, and respected. Together, we'll begin identifying goals and creating a plan that feels realistic and meaningful for you.
Clients often describe me as warm, genuine, calming, and easy to talk to. I strive to create a balance between offering support and helping clients gently challenge patterns that may no longer be serving them. I understand that life can be messy, unpredictable, and overwhelming at times. As a therapist, wife, mother, and someone who values lifelong growth and learning, I bring both professional expertise and human understanding into the therapy room. I believe healing happens through connection, self-compassion, and practical action. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I tailor therapy to each person's unique experiences, strengths, and goals. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to help you gain insight, build confidence, process difficult experiences, and move toward the life you want to create.
I work best with adults, teens, parents, families, couples, and those who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, fears, low self worth, to name a few. Many of my clients are highly responsible, caring indivduals who often put others needs before their own and feel stuck in patterns of people pleasing, perfectionism, or self-doubt. I also enjoy supporting parents, young adults, and individuals navigating major life changes, healing from difficult experiences, improving relationships, and building confidence. Together, we focus on creating lasting change, developing healthier coping skills, boundaries and helping my clients feel more connected to themselves and the life they want to live.
Other specialties
I identify as
EMDR
How I Use EMDR Sometimes difficult experiences can leave us feeling stuck, anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally reactive, or disconnected from ourselves and others. EMDR helps your brain process experiences that may still be affecting you today. During EMDR, we don't spend every session talking in detail about painful memories. Instead, I help you safely work through experiences that continue to create distress, self-doubt, anxiety, or emotional triggers. EMDR can help with: Anxiety and panic Trauma and PTSD Childhood experiences Relationship wounds Low self-worth People-pleasing Distressing memories Life transitions The goal is to help those experiences feel less overwhelming so you can move forward with greater confidence, peace, and emotional freedom.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
How I Use ACT Many people come to therapy trying to get rid of uncomfortable thoughts, emotions, or anxiety. ACT takes a different approach. Instead of fighting difficult feelings, ACT helps you learn how to make room for them while still moving toward the life you want to live. Together we will: -Learn how to respond differently to anxious thoughts -Stop letting fear make decisions for you -Clarify what matters most to you -Build confidence in handling difficult emotions -Take meaningful action even when life feels uncomfortable ACT helps you spend less time battling your thoughts and more time living according to your values.
Somatic
How I Use Somatic Therapy Stress, anxiety, and trauma don't only affect the mind—they also affect the body. Many people notice symptoms such as: Tight shoulders or jaw Racing heart Stomach discomfort Feeling on edge Difficulty relaxing Feeling disconnected from their body Somatic therapy helps you become more aware of how stress and emotions show up physically. Together we may use: Breathing exercises Grounding techniques Nervous system regulation skills Mind-body awareness practices Gentle movement and body-based coping tools The goal is to help your body feel safer, calmer, and more regulated so emotional healing can happen more naturally.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
How I Use Internal Family Systems We all have different parts of ourselves. We all wear many hats. Whether we call them parts, sides or hats we have them. For example you may have: -A part that worries -A part that tries to keep everyone happy -A part that is highly self-critical -A part that avoids conflict -A part that feels hurt or overwhelmed IFS helps us understand these different parts with curiosity instead of judgment. Together we will explore: -Why certain reactions keep showing up -The protective roles different parts play -Where self-criticism or anxiety may come from -How to create more balance, compassion, and self-understanding The goal isn't to get rid of parts of yourself, it's to help your parts work together in healthier ways.
Trauma-Focused CBT
Trauma-Focused CBT is an evidence-based approach that helps children, teens, and families understand how difficult experiences may be affecting them today. Together we work on: Understanding how trauma impacts emotions and behavior Building coping skills for stress and anxiety Managing difficult thoughts and feelings Increasing confidence and resilience Processing difficult experiences in a safe, gradual way The goal is to help you feel safer, more confident, and better equipped to navigate life's challenges.
