New to Grow
Hi there! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with six years of experience working across a variety of mental health settings. Originally from Belzoni, Mississippi, I bring both professional expertise and a strong sense of community into my work. In my free time, I enjoy exploring new restaurants, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. These experiences help me stay grounded and connected, which I carry into my counseling practice. As a therapist, I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental, and nurturing environment where clients feel supported as they learn, heal, and grow at their own pace. I believe that one of the most important aspects of counseling is the relationship between therapist and client, and I am committed to building a trusting, collaborative connection with each person I work with.
The first session provides an opportunity for the client and therapist to build a professional relationship while identifying the client’s needs and the direction of treatment.
Over the past seven years, I have had the privilege of working with some amazing and unique individuals in many different mental health settings including: schools, acute hospitals, residential facilities, partial hospitalization programs, outpatient facilities, and community crisis. My clients’ age ranged from 5 to 70 including both males and females. The opportunity to assist my clients in achieving positive well-being is not a task taken lightly. My therapy approaches include Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy, solution focused brief therapy and Reality Therapy. These approaches have proven to be effective in addressing many different mental health concerns. I know therapy can seem scary, but you’re here, which means you are ready for a lifestyle change.
My ideal client is an individual aged 12 and above presenting with a range of concerns, from mild anxiety to suicidal ideations. This client will demonstrate openness and motivation for self-exploration. They are open and honest throughout the process. They are willing to engage in the development of adaptive emotional regulation skills, effective problem-solving strategies, and sustained behavioral changes that facilitate personal growth.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I apply ACT to help clients accept difficult emotions and situations while committing to actions that align with their values.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use SFBT techniques to help clients focus on personal change and solutions to their problems.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT in session to help clients identify and change unhealthy thought patterns that contribute to life challenges.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize DBT to support clients in understanding intense emotions and building healthier, non-harmful coping strategies.
