Hola, My name is Stephanie, but most call me "Servin", which has been a running joke since high school ROTC that kept going because there are too many Stephanie's in the world. Please feel free to call me Steph, Phanny, Stephanie, or Servin; I respond to all. I empower my clients to experience emotional freedom through the practice of recognizing and revisiting life wounds. I further encourage clients to forgive themselves and guide them to work toward their most desired selves. I am no stranger to knowing what it is like to struggle emotionally and even less when it comes to starting over. Life is not meant to be lived alone, so let's connect and start your journey to healing today, I am here to help!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, welcoming approach where we take time to get to know each other. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a collaborative and human experience, not something overly clinical or intimidating. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable showing up as you are, without pressure or judgment. We’ll start by talking about what brought you to therapy, but also acknowledge that choosing to begin therapy is a meaningful and personal decision. It often comes from a place of honesty, curiosity, or a desire for change. I like to normalize that therapy doesn’t have to feel scary or overwhelming—although it can sometimes be challenging as we explore important parts of your life. I’ll ask questions about your background, including your upbringing, relationships, and current concerns, to better understand your story and what has shaped your experiences. We’ll also discuss your main concerns, or what you feel are the most important issues you’d like to work through right now. Together, we’ll begin identifying some initial goals for therapy. I’ll invite you to share what feels most important to focus on first, and we can prioritize those areas in a way that feels manageable and meaningful to you. This helps ensure that our work together is aligned with your needs and values. I will also review any assessments or questionnaires you completed prior to the session. This helps me better understand your current emotional state and ensure that you are safe and supported, especially in your home and daily environment. Your safety and well-being are always a top priority. Finally, we’ll talk about scheduling and consistency. Regular sessions can make a big difference in the progress you experience, so we’ll work together to find a schedule that fits your life and supports your goals. Overall, the first session is about building connection, setting a foundation, and helping you feel more at ease with the therapeutic process.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with middle school and high school youth, drawing from my background in school-based mental health as a social worker. I value supporting adolescents as they navigate identity development, peer relationships, academic pressures, and family dynamics. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where young people feel heard, understood, and empowered. I also enjoy working with young adults through midlife from diverse backgrounds. I have a particular passion for supporting women of color, while remaining open and affirming to clients of all identities and experiences. I understand the importance of culturally responsive care and aim to meet each client with respect, curiosity, and compassion. My areas of focus include family conflict, grief and loss, divorce, and life transitions. Whether clients are adjusting to changes in relationships, coping with loss, or navigating major life shifts, I work collaboratively to help them build insight, resilience, and effective coping strategies.
