My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I believe a great majority of mental health challenges arise from past or present trauma. I am planning to certify in EMDR in the next several months. In the meantime; I approach the client sessions with a trauma informed approach; recognizing how trauma has impacted coping with life challenges and led to other concerns such as substance abuse and other addictions. I am also experienced in trauma bonds and how these situations create an environment where it is difficult to leave an unhealthy relationship. I create an atmosphere of safety and trust; meeting the client where he/she is at in the healing process.

Christian Counseling

I believe a personal relationship with Christ can help us overcome significant trials and tribulations in life. A relationship with him can give us strength to face some of the biggest hardships in life. He can bring us comfort; peace and insight into our own lives and healing journey. I also believe scripture study; church attendance and worship music can be helpful coping mechanisms. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe we are all children of god.

Strength-Based

I believe we all have strengths that can carry us through challenges. I believe therapy can bring out your strengths and insight into healing your own battles. Often depression, unhealthy relationships; addiction; abuse; trauma and other challenges lead to us forgetting just how strong we are. I believe in empowering you to make your own decisions. I feel you are stronger than you think.
