I love being a therapist and I find it an honor to be invited to walk alongside people in their journey through life. I have been working in this field for 28 years in a variety of areas and roles (mental health, criminal justice & forensics, Christian counseling, adoption work and integrative therapy). I am passionate about helping people heal from past and present stressors and living an intentional, meaningful and healthy life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

At the first session, I will talk about my practice and ask you about your experiences and past experiences with Therapy (if applicable) and what your expectations are as well as what type of therapeutic style you respond best to. We will talk about your goals and how I can best help you. But ultimately that first session is about you feeling comfortable and safe in a judgment-free zone where we begin to establish a trusting, therapeutic relationship

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I work hard to cultivate a peaceful, safe, caring atmosphere with my clients. My clients tell me that they feel supported and have had breakthroughs that they did not experience with previous therapists. I frequently provide trainings in the community in the areas of mental health, women’s issues and parenting and have been selected for news interviews on two occasions as a local mental health expert in my field.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have a broad range of experiences in this field and find it easy to click with almost anyone who enters my practice. While I consider myself to be a generalist in my practice, areas that I really love to help people in are: relationship struggles, issues related to self-esteem, parenting, mood disorders, the perinatal and post-partum process, OCD, life transitions and people seeking an integration of Christian faith, psychology and a whole person centered approach.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

I use a Christian, biblical perspective combined with psychology to treat the whole person.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We will examine your core beliefs and thoughts and how they are impacting your behavior, relationships and life in general and then apply CBT principles to modify maladaptive thoughts and behaviors to help improve each area of your life.

Integrative

I use a whole person approach to treatment, evaluating areas of diet & nutrition, sleep, stress management and physical activity. Our mind and body are intricately connected and understanding all aspects of lifestyle and then making changes accordingly is a more effective approach to healing. I have advanced certification in Integrative Nutrition and Health and I’m passionate about helping the whole person.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT provides fundamental skills for living mindfully, improving interpersonal effectiveness, improving emotion regulation and tolerating distress in a healthier way.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma informed care compassionately considers a persons history, situations of loss, trauma and weaves this compassionate care into all facets of the therapy process.
