Hello. I am a seasoned therapist with 30 years of experience working with a variety of individuals facing trying times. We all come upon hard times throughout our journey. I believe that having someone in your corner helping with regaining self care, self worth, balance among change and the courage to forge ahead is paramount when dealing with challenges in this thing called "life". I am easy going and sometimes I can be funny. I love my job and feel honored to be able to work alongside remarkable people each day. I learn something new with each and every person and feel that therapy is a collaboration of strengths between therapist and client.
During our initial session, we will share basic information outline how your therapy process will proceed, including scheduling days and times that suit both parties. We will discuss the concerns that have brought you to therapy and explore some of the history of your unique journey. Together, we will identify a few short-term and long-term goals to work towards. I provide information about myself, and we will determine if we are a good fit to scheduling future sessions. I understand that not everyone is compatible, so please feel free to be honest if I may not be the right therapist for you. If needed, I will assist in finding a better match for your needs.
My approach is straightforward and has effectiveness in my work. It involves collaborating identify your strengths and areas for improvement. I believe that fostering a trusting and open relationship in the therapeutic process is essential for initiating meaningful change. I am receptive to suggestions, eager to learn about you, and willing to share information that may be beneficial. Initially, my primary goal is symptom reduction, such as alleviating anxiety and depression, improving sleep, promoting self-care, and addressing any self-harm or suicidal ide if present. My strength lies in my personality, which humorous, caring, and open.
I am skilled in working with individuals that have experienced trauma and challenges related to sexual/physical violence, chronic illness, grief, anxiety and depression, couples work, LGBTQ+ and I love working with members of the military.
I utilize evidence based CBT methods to enhance awareness of thoughts and patterns of behavior that negatively effect quality of life
