LCMHC, 27 years of experience
Authentic

As a licensed clinician with 27 years of experience supporting teenagers and adults through anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, mood disorders, grief, and life transitions. I take a warm, collaborative approach and use evidence-based therapies like CBT, ACT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing—tailoring everything to fit your unique needs. I believe therapy should feel both supportive and practical, giving you helpful tools while also creating a space where you feel truly understood. My hope is to help you build resilience, gain clarity, and move toward a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and in line with what matters most to you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first session, we’ll take the time to get to know each other and understand what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask about your current concerns, your goals, and any challenges you’ve faced so far. Together, we’ll start to explore what’s been getting in the way of feeling your best and begin thinking about practical steps to support you. You can expect a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where your experiences are heard and understood. By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer sense of how we might work together and what the next steps could look like for you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a genuine and compassionate clinician with 27 years of experience with children, teenagers and adults navigate life’s challenges. I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide range of settings—including hospitals, emergency rooms, schools, clients’ homes, nursing facilities, and as an adjunct professor—which has given me a broad perspective on the unique challenges people face at different stages of life. My approach combines evidence-based methods like CBT, ACT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing with a personalized, flexible style. Clients often say that therapy with me feels both practical and authentic—I am truly invested in understanding your experiences and supporting your growth. Together, we work to build skills, increase resilience, and move toward a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and manageable.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with children, teenagers and adults who may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, grief, or simply stuck in patterns that no longer feel helpful. Many of my clients come to therapy wanting not only to feel better, but to better understand themselves and learn practical ways to navigate life’s challenges. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. Whether you’re feeling uncertain, discouraged, or just ready for something to shift, I offer a supportive, collaborative space where we can move at a pace that feels right for you. If you’re open to gentle exploration and skill-building, we can work together to help you feel more confident and in control.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and gently challenge unhelpful thinking styles that keep you feeling stuck. CBT is practical and skill-based, so you’ll learn concrete tools you can use between sessions to manage symptoms more effectively. My goal is to help you build lasting strategies that increase confidence, emotional balance, and resilience in everyday life.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my practice, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than getting stuck fighting them. Instead of focusing solely on symptom reduction, ACT helps you build psychological flexibility — the ability to stay present, grounded, and guided by your values even when things feel hard. Together, we clarify what truly matters to you and take meaningful, achievable steps in that direction. The goal is not to eliminate discomfort, but to help you live a fuller, more purposeful life alongside it.

Motivational Interviewing

In my practice, I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore and strengthen their own reasons for change. Rather than telling you what to do, MI is a collaborative, respectful approach that helps you clarify your goals, resolve ambivalence, and build confidence in your ability to move forward. I use thoughtful questions and reflective listening to help you identify what matters most to you and what may be getting in the way. This approach is especially helpful when you’re feeling stuck, uncertain, or pulled in different directions about making changes in your life.

Eclectic

In my practice, I take an eclectic approach, meaning I thoughtfully integrate different therapeutic models based on your specific needs and goals. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, I draw from evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing to create a treatment plan that fits you. This flexibility allows us to adjust as your needs evolve and to focus on what is most effective at any given time. My priority is providing therapy that feels personalized, practical, and responsive to your unique situation.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In my practice, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build practical skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and reducing impulsive or self-defeating behaviors. DBT focuses on four core areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Together, we work on strengthening your ability to stay present, navigate emotional overwhelm without making things worse, and communicate your needs more effectively. The goal is to help you create greater balance, stability, and confidence in handling life’s challenges.
