I offer a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment in which you can talk about whatever issues you feel are bothering you. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationship issues, and couple's counseling. I have background working with juvenile adolescents, felony substance use offenders, couples, adults, and children in both a private practice and community setting. I have experience working with people from multiple populations with different political, religious, and ethical belief systems.
The first session for me is a chance to get to know you, not only about your reasons for seeking therapy but your background, history, and beliefs. I believe that therapy works best the more context is provided. In our sessions, the goals are focused on objectives you set towards the ending of our first meeting. We will constantly work towards these goals while monitoring progress and setting specific ways to achieve them. I describe my approach as both challenging as supportive, as I believe that both approaches are flexible in certain scenarios. I will encourage feedback in our sessions as to me, therapy is something that should be useful and beneficial to the client.
I utilize primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and focus on the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I look at the effects our thoughts and worldviews have on our current state of functioning.
One of my biggest strengths is being flexible in my therapy approach. I believe certain approaches are not applicable in every situation and am willing to meet the client where they are at in order to create the most comfortable and safe therapeutic environment. I feel that another one of my strengths is openness to feedback in the therapeutic process. I understand that I am not perfect as a clinician and am willing to change my approach to best fit the client. I pride myself on attempting to create an environment in which the client feels comfortable sharing their feelings.
