New to Grow
I'm Kimberly Covington, LMHC, LPC, NCC, EMDR-Trained Therapist and Life Coach, and I believe healing begins with feeling heard, understood, and supported. In our first session, you can expect a warm, judgment-free space where we focus on your story, your goals, and what brings you to counseling. We'll discuss your current challenges, strengths, personal history, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. Together, we'll begin creating a plan tailored to your needs and identify practical steps to help you move forward. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed, drawing from evidence-based practices to support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, grief, relationship concerns, stress, and personal growth challenges.
During our 1st session the foundation of what you would like to acheive in therapy is congruent with building a connection. You don't have to have all the answers or know exactly where to start. My role is to walk alongside you as we explore your path toward healing, resilience, and lasting change. 🌱💜
🌟 Compassion and Empathy I create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and valued. My ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds helps build strong therapeutic relationships. 🌟 Trauma-Informed Perspective With my EMDR training and experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions, I understand how past experiences can affect present functioning and healing. 🌟 Authenticity and Relatability Clients often respond well to my genuine, down-to-earth approach. I meet people where they are and help them feel comfortable discussing difficult topics. 🌟 Strengths-Based Focus I help clients identify their existing strengths, resilience, and resources rather than focusing solely on problems, empowering them to create meaningful change. 🌟 Practical Skill Building I provide clients with actionable tools and coping strategies they can use between sessions to manage emotions, improve relationships, and navigate life's challenges. 🌟 Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusivity My experience working with diverse populations allows me to approach each client with curiosity, respect, and cultural humility. 🌟 Encouragement and Hope I help clients recognize that growth is possible, even during difficult seasons, while supporting them in developing confidence and self-compassion. Lastly, I bring empathy, authenticity, and a trauma-informed approach to therapy. I create a supportive space where clients feel heard and understood while helping them identify strengths, develop practical coping skills, and work toward meaningful change. My goal is to foster healing, resilience, personal growth, and lasting emotional well-being.
I best serve adults and adolescents navigating trauma, BIPOC specific issues, anxiety, LGBTIA+ matters, depression, life transitions, grief, relationship challenges, and emotional overwhelm. I use a compassionate, trauma-informed approach with EMDR and evidence-based strategies, I help clients build resilience, gain clarity, heal from the past and any traumas identified in the past, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives. 🌱

I identify as
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotionally Supportive Therapy is a counseling approach that helps people cope with stress, difficult emotions, life changes, illness, grief, anxiety, depression, or relationship problems by providing encouragement, understanding, and practical support. Think of it as helping someone build a stronger emotional "safety net" while they work through challenges. Key parts include: Listening and understanding without judgment. Providing encouragement and reassurance during difficult times. Helping identify strengths and past successes. Teaching coping skills to manage stress and emotions. Helping solve problems and make decisions. Offering emotional support during crises, illness, loss, or major life transitions. For example, if a client is overwhelmed by a new medical diagnosis, supportive therapy may focus on helping them express their fears, develop coping strategies, strengthen their support system, and maintain hope while adjusting to the situation. The goal is not necessarily to deeply analyze the past, but to help the person feel more supported, emotionally stable, and better able to manage current challenges and improve daily functioning. 🌱
