Carrington Goidel Collins

LCSW (she/her)1 year of experience

I have a deep understanding of how a pervasive sense of self and being impact relationships, and emotional experiences, and, the way people move through the world. I enjoy working with individuals who have felt misunderstood, struggle with chronic patterns that seem difficult to change, or have not found lasting relief through previous treatment. My approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and individualized, integrating DBT, CBT, ERP, attachment-focused, and trauma-informed therapies to help clients create meaningful, lasting change.

First session

Our first session is designed to help us understand the whole picture—not just your symptoms. We’ll explore what brought you to therapy, your personal history, relationships, strengths, and the patterns that may be contributing to your current struggles. Together, we’ll identify your goals and begin developing an individualized treatment plan tailored to your needs. My goal is to create a space where you feel genuinely understood, respected, and supported while laying the foundation for meaningful, lasting change.

Strengths

My greatest strengths are building genuine therapeutic relationships, recognizing underlying patterns that may have been overlooked, and helping clients make sense of experiences that once felt confusing or overwhelming. I take an active, collaborative approach to therapy, balancing compassion with honesty and evidence-based interventions. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, I work to understand the deeper factors contributing to distress so we can create meaningful, lasting change. I strive to provide a space where clients feel both challenged and supported as they work toward their goals.

Ideal clients

I work best with adults experiencing complex and long-standing emotional or interpersonal difficulties, particularly those navigating personality disorders, complex trauma, attachment concerns, OCD, and dissociation. Many of my clients have spent years feeling misunderstood, stuck in recurring patterns, or frustrated that previous therapy addressed symptoms without exploring the underlying causes. They are often seeking greater self-understanding, healthier relationships, improved emotional regulation, and meaningful, lasting change. Whether you’re beginning therapy for the first time or returning after previous treatment, I strive to provide a collaborative space where insight and evidence-based treatment come together to support lasting growth.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients slow down and understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Rather than focusing on “fixing” thoughts, we work together to notice patterns that may be keeping them stuck and explore different ways of responding that feel more helpful and sustainable.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT to help clients navigate intense emotions without feeling consumed by them. We focus on building skills around emotional regulation, distress tolerance, boundaries, and relationships while also creating space for self-compassion. My goal is to help clients feel more grounded and capable of moving through difficult moments without feeling like they have to survive them alone.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I use IFS to help clients understand the different parts of themselves that show up throughout life. Often, the parts we criticize the most developed for a reason. Together, we work to understand those parts with curiosity instead of judgment and build a stronger connection to a more grounded and compassionate sense of self.

Schema Therapy

I use Schema Therapy to help clients identify long-standing patterns that may have developed early in life and continue to impact their relationships, emotions, and sense of self. Together, we explore where these patterns came from and work toward building healthier ways of understanding themselves and interacting with others.

Trauma-Informed Care

I approach all of my work from a trauma-informed perspective. I recognize that many of the behaviors people struggle with today began as ways of surviving difficult experiences. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with you?” we explore, “What happened to you, and what helped you get through it?” My goal is to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and empowering.
