(he/him)
I am Bryan Portillo, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) bringing close to a decade of professional experience to the field of mental health. My practice is centered on providing comprehensive support that enhances well-being, cultivates resilience, and renews hope for individuals. I have a deep passion for working specifically with youth and young adults, guiding them through complex challenges and empowering them to be resourceful in developing effective and appropriate coping mechanisms. My therapeutic style is authentic and highly engaging, integrating genuine expression and humor to create a safe, relatable, and productive environment for healing.
Our first session is centered on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can be your authentic self. We will focus on building rapport and establishing the foundation of our therapeutic relationship. During this time, we will explore the reasons you are seeking support, discuss your personal history, and work collaboratively to define the specific changes and goals you wish to achieve. This helps us both understand how therapy can effectively support your journey toward a more fulfilling life.
My greatest strength as a therapist is the ability to form authentic, meaningful relationships with the people I work with. I believe that by being genuinely personable and direct, I can create an immediate sense of safety and trust, the kind of space where you can truly relax and be yourself. My goal is to make therapy a comfortable, safe place where you feel fully supported as you navigate your challenges.
I work with clients facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, and trauma, alongside difficult life transitions. My approach is focused on empowering and navigating barriers. The goal of my practice is to provide concrete tools that lower the daily impact of these challenges, allowing clients to reclaim control and pursue meaningful, fulfilling lives.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I've been a dedicated practitioner of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for the last 6 years, using it to help clients navigate and overcome significant challenges. It's a powerful tool that has enabled a numerous amount of people to better understand the cycle of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In our sessions, we'll use the core principles of CBT to break down these connections. From there, we'll build new, healthier thought patterns that can lead to a noticeable reduction in your stress and anxiety, helping you feel more in control of your daily life.
