Hello there! I'm Sarah, a holistic therapist based in South Florida. I've been in the field of social work for 9 years and graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2021. I've been a therapist for 3 years and currently practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I specialize in helping anxious people-pleasers and those with trans/gender non-conforming identity to drop the pressure of others' expectations and lead empowered, authentic lives.
In a free consultation, we start with introductions and discuss your recent experiences and current needs, as well as my style of therapy and what to expect. In the first session, we dive a bit deeper to discuss more of your history and past experiences, start to formulate a treatment plan, and most importantly, lay the groundwork for mutual trust and collaboration in the therapeutic relationship.
I have a warm and compassionate presence in therapy sessions, and can naturally respond with empathy and kindness even as I challenge or offer new perspectives.
I love working with young adults who are struggling to lead fulfilling, self-determined lives without self-doubt, guilt, or shame. They might struggle to "hear" their own inner voice (inner truth) above the loudness of other people's input and expectations. They may feel anxious, frustrated, and overwhelmed.
I'm certified in CBT and use this method in conjunction with others to help clients practice mindfulness and mastery over their thoughts. This helps us feel more grounded and empowered when external factors/stressors threaten to make us feel out of control.
I am trained in EMDR and use this method as a way of assisting clients to heal trauma in a holistic but structured way. EMDR allows the brain and body to heal themselves naturally and with deep, lasting effects.
I am a holistic practitioner, giving attention to the unique and integral roles of mind, body, and spirit in healing trauma, treating mental health, and leading an empowered, authentic life.
I use narrative methods to assist clients in "naming" and interacting with their emotions as separate from themselves. Our emotions are messengers, and narrative therapy helps us understand the messages are emotions want to send us while allowing us space not to lose ourselves in our emotions.
I have undergone training and certification as a NARM-Informed Professional, meaning I take a relational and trauma-focused approach to therapy. I believe the question is not, "What is wrong with me?" but rather, "What happened to me?"
