New to Grow
As a Board-Certified Registered Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, and play therapist in training, I value creative expression. I believe that all people deserve spaces and relationships within which they can freely express themselves. I specialize in helping children navigate emotional and developmental challenges, unlocking their capacity to build confidence, resilience, and coping skills that will serve them throughout their lives. Outside of the office, I am a lifelong artist and currently enjoy working with collage, watercolor, and mixed media. When I'm not making art, you can find me exploring nature, trying new recipes, or listening to podcasts with my cat.
Coming to therapy for the first time is a big step, and it’s completely normal for both you to feel a mix of emotions—curiosity, nerves, or even a little hesitation. My goal for our first meeting is to create a soft landing where everyone feels seen, heard, and safe. In our initial session, we’ll focus on getting to know one another. This is a time to share your concerns, your history, and the goals you have for our work together. There is no pressure to "perform" or dive into hard topics right away. By the end of our first hour, we’ll have the beginnings of a roadmap for our journey. You’ll leave with a better sense of how I work and, most importantly, you will leave knowing you have a dedicated space where you can be exactly who you are.
I worked as a special education teacher before pursuing my Master’s in Art Therapy Counseling. My clinical experience has included work with children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups experiencing neurodevelopmental issues, family transitions, medical complications, identity issues, grief, and more. I have provided counseling in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals and other medical facilities, client homes, and a crisis shelter. Through a compassionate, child-centered practice, I create a safe and supportive environment where children can express themselves freely. I use a combination of art therapy and play therapy techniques because they allow children to communicate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in their natural language. By following a child’s lead and allowing them to explore at their own pace, I help them uncover their natural strengths and abilities, empowering them to approach life's challenges with confidence. I also work closely with families to guide them in supporting their child’s unique needs. My goal is to empower children and their families so they feel more equipped to navigate the ups and downs of life with greater ease. Parents often tell me that working with me has improved their child’s social skills, emotional expression, and relationships.
My clients are often come from households with neurodiversity, trouble at school, physical disability or medical concerns, or changing families through moving, new family additions, parental separation, or grief. Clients seeking my services are looking for a compassionate support for themselves or their child through these changes by deepening their self-understanding and expanding their capacity to cope with life’s challenges. Colorful Journeys clients are also curious about science-backed therapy techniques utilizing creative expression and play to achieve their goals.
