New to Grow
Hello! I'm happy that you are reaching out! This is the first step to feeling better. I am Camille Carter MFT. Mother of two teenagers and a sweet golden retriever, lover of the beach, baseball, Jesus and walks in nature. I have been providing therapy for the last 22 years in private practice, schools, hospitals, care centers and retreats. I look forward to walking alongside you throughout this journey of learning and healing. Talk soon! Camille
Our first session will be relaxed and comfortable. I really focus on connecting with you, hearing from you, why you are choosing therapy now? I may be more of a listener then a talker in our first session, because I want to gather as much important information about you as I can , so that I can help. I am always interested in hearing about both positive and those negative experiences that you may have had with other therapists, chatting about goals for your therapy and answering any questions that you have about me and the therapeutic process as a whole.
I am real, I am honest, I am a true empath. My heart has been in this field for years because I truly want to help others. Being a daughter of a mother with major mental health challenges as well as a Ph.d Psychologist father, I have been immersed in the helping professions for as long as I can remember. I have the utmost respect for those struggling and for those helpers. I have learned how to connect with others, observe behaviors and over the last 25 years of college, internships and career experiences, I really feel like I have a lot to offer a client who wants to feel better. With that said, I will never ever pretend to be an expert on someone else's life. Being a therapist is an honor, walking through pain with another is something I take great pride in. My methods are holistic, my approaches are professional and individual to my client. I look forward to supporting you.
I absolutely love working with teenagers. I have two of my own and am very aware of the pressures, struggles and all around overwhelm that can be felt personally, socially, educationally and in the family system. If I had to pick only one specialty, I would have to say Anxiety. Sadly, so many of us have experienced it. I myself had panic attacks for years as well as my mom, who still does not drive. I wouldn't wish that feeling on anybody! Luckily, there are numerous ways to feel better and escape the dark cloud.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but in much simpler terms I use CBT in therapy to help you identify your thoughts and how they affect how you feel which overflows on how you live your life. Together we work through what is working for you and what is not. Good therapy will help you move out of that stuck place to one that fills you with calm, joy and contentment!
Humanistic
You are the expert on your own life and we collaborate together in a supportive and non-judgemental way to focus on getting you feeling better through a holistic "whole person" approach. One that is tailor made just for you.
Christian Counseling
In our counseling we will work together using my professional skills and experience while also welcoming in your faith and beliefs, openly talking about Christian values, scripture and ideas in an open and non-judgemental way.
