(she/her)
Hi, I’m Laura, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Clinical Supervisor. I specialize in working with anxiety, OCD, trauma, and life transitions, using evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Exposure and Response Prevention. My style is warm, collaborative, and practical—I focus on helping you build skills, process experiences, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values.
In your first session, we’ll spend time getting to know you—what’s bringing you in, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’re hoping to change or improve. I’ll ask some questions about your history and current concerns, and we’ll begin identifying goals that feel meaningful and realistic for you. You’ll also have space to ask questions, get a feel for my approach, and make sure this feels like a good fit. By the end, we’ll typically have a clearer direction for our work together and some initial next steps.
What tends to stand out about my approach is the integration of evidence-based methods with a highly practical, personalized focus. I don’t just offer insight—I help you actively build skills and apply them in real life, using approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Clients often notice that our work is both supportive and structured, with clear direction while still allowing space for deeper processing. In terms of results, many clients experience increased clarity, reduced avoidance, and a stronger ability to handle difficult thoughts and emotions without feeling controlled by them. There’s a consistent focus on helping you move forward in ways that align with your values, so progress feels meaningful and sustainable—not just symptom relief, but real life change.
I tend to work best with clients who are motivated for growth, even if they feel stuck or overwhelmed, and who are open to exploring both practical skills and deeper patterns. Many are navigating anxiety, OCD, trauma, or life transitions and are ready to engage in meaningful, values-driven change. I especially connect with individuals who are willing to be curious about their inner experience and take small, intentional steps toward building a life that feels more aligned and fulfilling.
Other specialties
I identify as
EMDR
I integrate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing to help clients process and resolve distressing memories that continue to impact their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Using bilateral stimulation, I support clients in safely reprocessing these experiences so they can reduce emotional intensity and develop more adaptive beliefs. EMDR is incorporated within a broader, trauma-informed approach, tailored to each client’s readiness and clinical goals.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
In my work, I draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to support clients in developing greater psychological flexibility—creating space to observe thoughts and emotions without becoming entangled in them. Together, we identify core values and move toward consistent, values-driven actions, even when challenges are present. Mindfulness, defusion, and acceptance practices are woven throughout to foster resilience and meaningful, lasting change.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy to help clients build practical skills for navigating intense emotions, improving relationships, and increasing distress tolerance. Together, we focus on balancing acceptance and change while strengthening mindfulness, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills are applied in real-life contexts to support stability, resilience, and more effective responses to challenges.
Trauma Informed Care
I practice trauma-informed care by creating a safe, collaborative environment that prioritizes regulation, pacing, and client autonomy. I integrate Deep Brain Reorienting and Somatic Experiencing to help clients process trauma through both neurological and body-based pathways, supporting gentle resolution of stored responses. This approach emphasizes attunement to the nervous system, allowing healing to unfold in a way that feels grounded, manageable, and sustainable.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
I utilize virtual reality as part of Exposure and Response Prevention to create immersive, controlled environments for treating anxiety, phobias, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. This approach allows clients to engage in gradual, structured exposures while practicing response prevention in a safe and supportive setting. VR enhances flexibility and realism in treatment, helping clients build confidence and reduce avoidance more effectively.
