I’m Magdalena Berrios, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Anchor and Rose Counseling, a virtual therapy practice serving clients throughout South Carolina.

A space to feel heard, work through life’s changes, and reconnect with yourself and the people you love.

I help individuals and couples navigate anxiety, life transitions, motherhood, and relationship challenges, with a special interest in supporting women who feel overwhelmed by the demands of caring for others. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical, creating space for you to feel heard, strengthen boundaries, and build a more connected, fulfilling life.

First session

In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, welcoming space where we begin getting to know each other and what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk through your current concerns, any relevant background, and what you’re hoping to get out of this process at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to help you feel safe, heard, and understood from the start. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to gain clarity while also giving you space to share what feels most important. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals for our work and what meaningful change looks like for you. You can also expect a collaborative approach where your voice, values, and readiness guide the direction of therapy moving forward.

Strengths

I bring warmth, curiosity, and a practical, collaborative approach to each session. I help clients make sense of their emotions, recognize patterns, and build tools they can use in everyday life. From managing anxiety to setting boundaries and communicating more openly. My style balances compassion with gentle, honest feedback, honoring your pace while helping you move toward meaningful change.

Ideal clients

My ideal client may feel overwhelmed by anxiety, motherhood, relationship challenges, or a season of change. They’re often used to caring for everyone else and want support with setting boundaries, navigating people-pleasing, and making room for their own needs. I also enjoy working with couples who want to rebuild trust and connection. You don’t need to have everything figured out, just a willingness to explore what’s happening and take small steps toward feeling more confident, connected, and grounded.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a person-centered approach by creating a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and accepted. You bring expertise in your own life, and I work alongside you to explore your experiences, clarify what matters to you, and recognize your strengths. Together, we move at a pace that feels right for you, building self-trust and working toward changes that reflect your values and goals.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use mindfulness techniques to help you slow down, notice your thoughts and emotions without judgment, and reconnect with the present moment. Depending on your needs and comfort, we may practice grounding, mindful breathing, or noticing physical sensations. These tools can help you respond to stress more intentionally and create moments of calm in everyday life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, explore more balanced perspectives, and practice new ways of responding to challenges. We’ll build practical skills you can use between sessions to manage anxiety, navigate stress, and feel more confident in everyday life.
