New to Grow
I work with adults who are dealing with anxiety, major life changes, health concerns, relationship or family stress, or simply feeling overwhelmed by circumstances they didn’t expect. My style is warm, practical, and direct. I’m an active therapist who will listen carefully, ask questions, offer perspective, and work with you to understand what’s happening and figure out what may actually help.
Our first session is a chance for me to get to know you and understand what’s bringing you to therapy now. We’ll talk about what’s been happening, how it’s affecting your life, what you’ve already tried, and what you’d like to be different. You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what your goals are or where to start. We’ll figure that out together. I’ll ask questions and offer thoughts along the way, and by the end of the session we should have a clearer sense of what you need and how we can work on it together.
One of my strengths is helping people feel understood without leaving them stuck in the same place. I’m warm and supportive, but I’m also active in the conversation. I’ll ask questions, offer perspective, notice patterns, and gently challenge you when I think it may help. Years of working with people facing family crises, health concerns, major transitions, and complicated systems have taught me that real life is rarely simple. I try to bring that same practicality into therapy: we can make room for what you’re feeling while also figuring out what might help next.
I use CBT to help you notice the patterns that can keep anxiety, stress, or difficult situations feeling stuck. We’ll look at what you’re telling yourself, how that affects the way you feel and respond, and whether there are other ways to approach the situation. The goal isn’t to tell you that your thinking is wrong. It’s to help you understand what’s happening and find practical ways to handle it differently.
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help you get clear about what you want to be different and identify realistic steps toward getting there. We’ll pay attention to what’s already helping, where you’ve handled similar situations well before, and what might make things even a little easier now. The focus is on making therapy useful in your everyday life, not just talking about the problem.
I use Motivational Interviewing to help you work through the part of you that wants something to change and the part that may not feel ready yet. We’ll talk through what matters most to you, what’s making change difficult, and what would make it feel more possible. I won’t push you toward a decision. My role is to help you get clearer about what you want and what feels realistic for you.
I use supportive therapy to help you talk through difficult experiences, make sense of what you’re feeling, and figure out what you need next. I’ll listen, ask questions, offer perspective, and help you recognize strengths or options that can be hard to see when you’re in the middle of something. Sometimes that means working toward change, and sometimes it means helping you cope with a situation that can’t be changed right now.
I use person-centered therapy by starting with your experience, priorities, and goals rather than assuming I know what’s best for you. We’ll work collaboratively, and I’ll listen closely, ask questions, offer perspective, and help you explore what feels right for your life. You won’t be pushed toward a particular choice, but you also won’t be left to figure everything out on your own.
