New to Grow
I believe therapy offers a unique space to focus on yourself and uncover what might be getting in the way of living the life you want. I work with adults who are often ambitious but anxious, strong but soft, courageous but cautious. My therapeutic style encourages slowing down so you can approach life with more clarity and purpose. I specialize in working with anxiety and obsessional/ruminating thoughts. I work with all genders but specialize in women's issues such as perinatal health, premenstrual disorders, and perimenopause.
In a first session I'll be gathering information and hearing your story in your words. I find it is important to first get to a place of shared understanding before diving into solutions. Together, we'll explore the experiences, relationships, and patterns that brought you to this point, and begin shaping a path toward lasting, meaningful change.
I believe therapy gives people the chance to confront barriers holding them back from living the life they want. I strive to create a space for clients to feel comfortable to challenge themselves, move through difficult emotions, and make change in their daily life. I believe these changes happen in small ways inside and outside of therapy.
I work with all genders, but I often work with women in their mid-to-late 20s, 30s, and 40s who tend to be navigating cyclical thoughts, feeling stuck, and wanting to make a change in their life, in their relationship, with in themselves. I have a background in art and always welcome working with creatives in the therapeutic space. I practice a mindfulness approach in therapy and am happy to provide psychoeducation on mindfulness as much as each client is interested in this.
Other specialties
I identify as
Attachment-based
I use attachment-based approach so we can better understand patterns in past and present relationships.
Psychodynamic
I use a psychodynamic approach so we can understand how your past has impacted your present life. This isn't meant to blame childhood but rather to be able to make connections, heal, and move forward.
Feminist
A feminist approach is used with all genders but it is meant to empower the client and understand that even though I'm the therapist, you are the expert on your life and your lived experiences. It removes a power dynamic that the therapist is "all-knowing" and sitting in a patriarchal-power position.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
I am trained in ERP but only use this for OCD treatment and occasionally to help support those with panic attacks, social anxiety, and/or phobias. This appraoch is only used when first discussed and agreed upon with the client.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I use a mindfulness based approach which means we hold the tenets of mindfulness in therapy: Non-Judging, Patience, Beginner's Mind, Trust, Non-Striving, Acceptance, Letting Go
