Hello There! My name is Dr. Cassanora Lampley (but most folks just call me Dr. Cass) and I am excited to partner with you on your journey towards growth and healing!

There is no one-size fits all approach to therapy and your care will be designed to meet your unique needs. All aspects of your personhood and the things that matter to you are welcome here!

Throughout my career, I have provided clinical services to young people preparing for emerging adulthood, couples navigating transitions in their relationships, and individuals at all stages of life who are contending with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or life-changing events. Providing identity-affirming care is a hallmark of my approach to therapy. I am committed to providing women, Black and Brown people, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and members of all faith communities with safe and informed therapeutic services.

First session

Our first session will be spent developing a shared understanding of what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the experience. My goal for the first session is to create a space that encourages you to keep coming back for future sessions. We will begin building our therapeutic relationship and laying the groundwork for curating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment.

Strengths

My approach to providing therapeutic services is rooted in curating a safe, authentic, and person-centered space for you to accomplish your goals. I strive to create an environment that makes you feel safe bringing your full self into each session. In order to address what motivated you to seek therapy you have to feel comfortable being your most authentic self. I recognize that may be easier said than done for individuals navigating aspects of their identity or interpersonal relationships which make authenticity feel risky or unsafe. Healing is a journey, not a destination and we can take our time navigating uncharted territory together. The space we build together is about you and our work will always focus on the power you have to cultivate the relationships and build the life that you want. There is no one-size fits all approach to therapy and your care will be designed to meet your unique needs. We can incorporate art, music, faith, family, friends, and even pop culture into your sessions. All aspects of your personhood and the things that matter to you are welcome here!

Ideal clients

My ideal client has a personal desire to be in the therapeutic space and work towards growing, healing, and accomplishing their goals. I have found that clients who are navigating a cross-roads in life have been some of my most rewarding experiences as a clinician. Supporting people in figuring out which path forward is the healthiest and safest choice for them is a deeply fulfilling experience. I also feel a sense of purpose providing culturally-informed care to Black and Brown women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and members of all faith communities. I incorporate my understanding of the societal challenges members of these communities face into my approach to therapeutic services. As a millennial, I also have a passion for serving my age mates who are seeking services to navigate a world that looks very different from the future they may have envisioned. If you want a provider who understands what it means to create new generational norms for building a family, forming relationships, or living life on your terms; I'm the therapist for you!

Treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

When using the ACT approach, we focus on acknowledging and accepting the challenging thoughts or experiences you are having and identifying ways to work through them instead of trying to change them. I have found this approach can be especially helpful for difficulties that are persistent or outside of your control.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT when clients want to change how they think about themselves, their relationships, and the world around them. This approach prioritizes shifting the way you think about an experience or situation and using new ways of thinking to adapt your behavior and how you respond to challenges. Instead of saying, "I have never done this before, it's impossible" we would replace the unhelpful thought with "I have not done this before but I can figure it out, like I have figured out new things before. "

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Therapy should always be catered to the individual, with the person-centered approach, we combine things that are important to you with evidence-based clinical approaches. Your relationships with friends and family, your faith, aspects of your identity, and your hobbies or interests can be woven into how I provide you with therapeutic services.
