An Sam
Hello, and welcome. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with more than a decade of nursing experience across intensive care, step-down, and home health settings. My diverse clinical background has given me a deep appreciation for the connection between physical and mental health and the importance of treating each person as a whole. I provide compassionate, individualized care and strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard and respected. I work collaboratively with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns to develop personalized treatment plans that support lasting wellness and improved quality of life.
First session
During our first session, we will take time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to treatment. I will ask about your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, lifestyle, and goals for care. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and share what you hope to achieve through treatment. Together, we will develop an individualized plan that may include medication management, therapeutic interventions, and practical strategies to support your mental health. My goal is to create a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and actively involved in your care.
Strengths
My greatest strengths as a provider are my compassion, creativity, and open-minded approach to care. I believe every individual has a unique story, and I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences. I take the time to understand each person’s needs, values, and goals, allowing me to develop personalized treatment plans that reflect the whole person. By combining evidence-based practices with flexibility and empathy, I help clients navigate challenges, build resilience, and work toward meaningful, lasting change.
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to serve individuals experiencing depression and anxiety who are seeking support to improve their emotional well-being, develop coping skills, and enhance daily functioning. I work well with clients who are motivated to better understand their symptoms, build resilience, and make meaningful changes in their lives. My approach focuses on creating a supportive, collaborative environment where clients can work toward goals such as reducing symptoms, managing stress, improving relationships, and increasing overall quality of life.
Treatment methods
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
As a PMHNP, I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help patients identify their strengths, define specific treatment goals, and focus on solutions rather than problems. I use techniques such as scaling questions, exploring exceptions to symptoms, and helping patients envision their preferred future. This approach encourages patients to build on existing successes and take small, achievable steps toward positive change.
