My name is Stefani and I am a therapist, practicing for 6 years. I have a Master's degree in Professional Counseling and I have my senior counseling license (LCPC) in Illinois. I am also an EMDR trained therapist for trauma work. My professional background includes a wide range, from working with high acuity clients in inpatient and correctional settings to lower acuity clients receiving outpatient telehealth services. I have experience with treating multiple mental health disorders and issues, as well as managing life stressors and adjustments.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will begin by gathering relevant background information to gain better insight on you. We will also begin to discuss the main issue or situation that brought you to therapy. The session will end with establishing treatment goals and our plans for therapy moving forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My therapeutic approach is solution-focused. In my clinical experience, I have seen the best results when creating a treatment plan with clients that emphasizes their goals clearly and creating a succession plan that is detailed and accounted for. I am here to help by being a guide to discovering and defining your true wants and needs. Also, by providing you with therapeutic tools and perspectives that will aid in your treatment.

My treatment methods

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

REBT is a treatment method similar to CBT, where emotions, cognitions, and behaviors are interrelated. However, REBT uses a processing technique to help clients explore their past to identify where learned behaviors originate from. I have found REBT to be helpful to clients because they get to explore their past and and address unresolved trauma, resentment, or hurt. At the same time, utilizing the cognitive-behavioral interventions to restructure negative thinking and practice rationalizing emotions.

Reality Therapy

Reality Therapy is a great approach to help re-center clients who are feeling "lost" or "stuck" in their path. This treatment method helps identify clear goals for clients and a clear path to reach them. It emphasizes the power of personal choices and highlights the client's locus of control. Clear goals are identified through exploring a client's current needs.

EMDR

EMDR is a highly effective and researched treatment method to help heal from trauma. It uses the brain's natural healing process to guide the client through resolutions of trauma or distressing events. It can help clients with PTSD, complex/lifelong PTSD or trauma, and even healing negative thought patterns. In addition to eye movements, other techniques such as tapping can be used for the process.
