Hi there, I'm Sunshine. Do you feel overwhelmed and need some help figuring things out? I enjoy working with people of all ages and unique situations and challenges. I believe that we all have the potential to achieve the best versions of ourselves and we just need some support along the way. No matter what brings you to therapy my goal is to help you develop practical, realistic, and effective strategies for more successful living. I enjoy working with young children, older children, teenagers, and adults, pre-marital couples, married/established couples, and family systems. I have a vast amount of experience working with those who have experienced trauma, first responders, and veterans. I am licensed in Florida and have been working with individuals, couples, and families for over 22 years.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you are facing. This will help me create a tailored treatment plan to guide us in our work together.
I have experience in helping clients with trauma, child abuse and neglect, parenting issues, motivation, self esteem, confidence, coping with life changes, grief and loss, and executive and professional coaching. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!
This modality is excellent for young children and parents after stressful and traumatic events.
CBT has a wide range of uses and can be a very effective tool.
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a type of talk therapy (psychotherapy). It’s based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), but it’s specially adapted for people who experience emotions very intensely.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
Trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) addresses the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families suffering from the destructive effects of early trauma. The treatment is particularly sensitive to the unique problems of youth with post-traumatic stress and mood disorders resulting from sexual abuse, as well as from physical abuse, violence, or grief. Because the client is usually a child, TF-CBT often brings non-offending parents or other caregivers into treatment and incorporates principles of family therapy.
