Valentina Golovanov
Hello, my name is Val Golovanov. (LMHC) I believe positive transformation happens when there is collaboration for solutions, health in relationships, strengths are affirmed, and weaknesses are challenged. I offer an accepting, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere in our therapeutic relationship. We will work together to determine the best treatment for your needs. You can expect a respectful and passionate professional who is dedicated to you and your goals. My goal is to foster a safe space and seek positive change in all areas of your life. It takes courage, resilience, and humility to begin counseling and I am excited to be a part of your unique journey. Looking forward to meeting you!
First session
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and comfortable space where they can share what brings them to therapy and begin getting to know me. We will talk about their concerns, goals, and what they hope to gain from therapy. There is no pressure to have everything figured out right away. My goal is for clients to leave their first session feeling heard, understood, and more comfortable with the therapy process.
Strengths
I bring empathy, patience, and an open mind to my sessions. I believe one of my strengths is being a good listener and creating a space where clients feel comfortable being themselves without judgment. I take the time to understand each person as an individual and meet them where they are. My approach stands out because I genuinely care about getting to know my clients and helping them feel heard, supported, and understood throughout their journey.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are individuals navigating ADHD, college transitions, social anxiety, depression, anxiety, and other life transitions. I also enjoy working with clients who are looking to build their self-esteem, better understand their identity, and develop healthier relationships with themselves and others. Whether they are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of their next steps, I provide a supportive and nonjudgmental space where they can explore their experiences, gain a better understanding of themselves, and work toward meaningful personal growth.
Treatment methods
Strength-Based
I use a strengths-based approach by focusing on each client’s existing strengths, abilities, and personal experiences rather than focusing only on their challenges. Together, we identify what is already working, build on the skills they have developed, and explore ways to use their strengths to navigate difficult situations. I believe clients are the experts in their own lives, and my role is to support them in recognizing their abilities, building confidence, and creating meaningful change. This approach allows therapy to be a collaborative and encouraging process where clients can feel empowered as they work toward their goals.
