My name is Joanna Baez. I am a LMFT and a bilingual licensed Mental Health Professional with 12 years of experience working as a Facilitator and Psychotherapist in California, specializing in affordable online therapy. I have worked with clients to help them with a large range of concerns including anxiety, depression, anger issues, substance abuse/addiction, relationship issues, parenting problems, and domestic violence. I have experience working with individuals in Federal and State probation as well as parents CPS cases. I have also worked at a State prison and MHTU Crisis Center. My empathetic, supportive, and nonjudgmental counseling style has allowed me to successfully help many clients. I believe that respect, and empathy are the main elements in a solid foundation for a good therapy session. I treat everyone with sensitivity and compassion, creating a safe zone to help them work through any issues. Multiple factors come into play when the mental health provider chooses a modality for the client, such as the age and preferences of the client and their available supports. My approach combines CBT, Attachment-Based Theory, Humanistic approach, Mindfulness Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Client-Centered approach, among others. Your dialogue and treatment plan are completely tailored to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step towards a change to seek a more fulfilling and happier life takes a lot of courage. If you are ready to take that step, you can be sure that I will be there to support and empower you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect a warm and friendly introduction, along with the establishment of rapport, all while maintaining a non-judgmental environment. I generally like to introduce myself in great detail as well, in order to break the ice and help the client feel as comfortable as possible.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my greatest strengths as a provider are accommodating to the individual client's needs and assessing which therapeutic approach would work the best for them. After 12 years

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am best-positioned to serve individuals who have the willingness and motivation to better themselves. My objective is to provide a supportive and empathetic environment in order to uplift my clients.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

Every human being is different, and the best of all theories helps them overcome their struggle. Creating a unique approach for clients has been effective when tailored to their needs. Utilizing an eclectic method consists of drawing from various therapeutic needs, which could look like elements of CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) and/or psychoanalysis combined. I like to incorporate a custom technique that can fit any client's needs.

EMDR

EMDR is a flexible treatment I believe can be adapted to better suit an individual depending on their needs. In my practice, learning to process and reframe a traumatic event plays a vital role in enhanced overall well-being. In the two years I've been utilizing the techniques of EMDR, I always prioritize my client's unique experiences, obstacles, and goals.
