Hi, I'm Becca. My expertise is in helping people reduce overall symptoms of traumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety, including obsessive-compulsive disorder and social anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-confidence and relationship issues. Are you having thoughts that are negative or hard to stop? Are you prone to keeping things inside because you don't want to burden others? My goal is to assist you in finding the most effective approach to these challenges to provide relief. I use both talk therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and Exposure and Response Therapy (ERP) to help process your concerns to reduce overall distress and improve emotional regulation. Initiating counseling or transitioning to a new counselor can be challenging. My aim is to create a secure and welcoming environment where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in order to grow. It's important to me that you feel listened to, understood, and encouraged during our sessions. I look forward to working with you!
In the first session I like to better understand what is bringing you to counseling. I want to learn more about your background and history. I may ask some questions in the first session to better understand what would be most helpful to you and what you would like to gain from our time together. It is also your time to see how you feel talking to me and determine if you want to continue with further sessions.
My biggest strength is helping people resolve and heal trauma and grief. Trauma can exacerbate anxiety, depression and grief symptoms and greatly affect relationships. I have a certification in Traumatic Stress Studies that has helped me tailor therapy for those who have experienced a one-time traumatic event or ongoing stressful experiences. I also have worked extensively with clients who have Anxiety and/or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and use Exposure and Response Therapy along with relaxation resources to work through this. I also have a lot of experience working with the LGBTQ+ population, especially those who experience sexual and gender identity issues.
I have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) for over 10 years. I use it to help process past trauma. It also works to reduce anxiety and OCD. It is very effective and many of my clients with anxiety or trauma utilize it to reduce their symptoms.
I have been trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy for several years. It is very effective at helping people regulate their emotions, improve distress tolerance and become more mindful. This therapy is great for those who have depression, anxiety, grief and trauma.
I have been trained in Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) for the treatment of OCD and Panic Disorder. It is very effective at helping manage symptoms of fear of anxiety.
