LPC, 30 years of experience
Hi, I'm Diane. Congratulations on starting your healing process! It can be a bit frightening to seek therapy. You may be wondering, "Will I like this person? Will they like me? Will they judge me? Do they know what they are doing? And, what if they just don't get me?" All of that is very understandable and normal! The value of therapy is found in connecting with another person who listens, is non-judgmental, compassionate, and knowledgeable about mental health. In the process of therapy, we will talk about your thoughts, feelings, experiences, fears, values, and dreams of what you want to improve and achieve.
Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, the frustration of ADHD, chronic low self-esteem, difficulty setting boundaries with others, trauma, or burnout from work or caregiving, we will navigate these challenges together and find ways to relieve your burden. In over 25 years of providing therapy, I have been trained in multiple therapeutic modalities. For example, we may utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and look at how our thought influence our emotions, which then effect our behavior. I utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy for the treatment of trauma, phobias, ADHD and other issues to facilitate rewiring the brain. That then makes change easier. My approach is eclectic and I utilize the therapeutic modality that fits for each client. In the process of therapy, you will feel heard, understood, and hopeful that there is a path forward.
I strive to approach each client with compassion and non-judgement. All of the difficulties I work with are things I have been through myself. I understand the courage required to take the first step and reach out for help.
For 25 years I have served clients struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, adult children from dysfunctional family of origin, and adults who are caring for aging parents, dealing with medical issues, or burned out on their career. I utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy in the treatment of trauma. It is a highly effective intervention that often is successful in 4 sessions or less.
