Welcome! I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist working with clients via telehealth in California. I support adults who are experiencing symptoms related to trauma, anxiety, and depression. My work supports you to explore what you want for yourself by identifying themes and patterns that may be keeping you from your goals. Drawing upon my experience with yoga, dance, mindfulness, and somatic training, I bring attention to the body-mind connection to view you holistically. My approach also prioritizes a systemic, social-justice, lens to support you in the context of your environment.
In our first session we’ll go over information you need to know about your rights as a client, how to contact me, and the scheduling process. Then I’ll ask you to share about what brings you to therapy and what you’re wanting out of the process. I will also have some more structured questions about different areas of your life and symptoms to make sure I have a full picture. From there, we’ll discuss your goals and our plan for addressing them in more detail.
I bring a warm and inviting energy to sessions that encourages you to share at your own pace. Although I offer guidance and direction when needed, I prioritize what is most important to you. Clients have shared an appreciation for my somatic approach, and our person-to-person connection.
Clients I work with may struggle to be the person they most want to be, but aren't sure how to reach their goals. Sometimes this shows up in the form of worries, hopelessness, relationship problems, or just feeling stuck. Others may feel they've been impacted by very stressful experiences, such as a chaotic childhood or significant loss.
I focus on our person-to-person connection and your present-moment emotional and somatic processes as we explore what you most want for yourself. This approach allows us to move closer to your goals while noticing themes and patterns that may relate to past experiences in your life.
I offer DBT for those who prefer a structured approach to learning skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation, and interpersonal skills. These skills can support in managing unwanted behaviors and challenging emotions.
CPT is an evidence-based, structured approach to treating PTSD. For those who have experienced a distinct traumatic or highly stressful event, I assess whether a diagnosis of PTSD is appropriate, and often recommend using this highly effective approach.
