LCSW, 9 years of experience
I am a client-centered counselor focused on helping you reach your personal therapeutic goals during our time together. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to help individuals become more self aware and work through challenges they struggle with independently. I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, person centered therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing techniques. These tools help many individuals understand what they want from therapy, and help us work together to get them where they want to be. We go at the pace that you are ready for and I will check in to ensure that you are feeling comfortable with the pace and progress all along this journey. You've taken a great step towards enhancing your emotional and mental health. I look forward to working on the next steps with you.
Our first session is our chance to get to know each other, but most importantly discuss what your goals are for therapy. I'll ask questions so I can have an understanding of what contributing factors led to this chapter of your mental health journey. We'll collaborate on therapeutic goals to guide our work together.
I always say, "my job is to work myself out of a job," because I believe therapy can and does empower clients to heal and move forward in their lives with a healthier sense of self and enhanced resiliency skills. I am my client's biggest advocate and truly seek to acknowledge their experience and assist them in discovering new perspectives to help them heal, grow, and become the person they would like to be.
I enjoy helping clients who are struggling to live the life they envisioned for themselves. For many clients, self-esteem issues, challenges in interpersonal relationships, depression, anxiety, and life transitions have left them feeling that they need greater support than what their current relationships and skills provide. In our work together we can process what contributed to these feelings, what strengths they already have to make changes, and how we can help them reframe any beliefs which are not serving them.
Understanding thought and behavior patterns allow clients to recognize and name automatic thoughts altering their feelings and behaviors. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy allows my clients to understand these automatic processes and create alternative healthier responses.

I believe in my clients innate abilities and inherent knowledge of themselves. I believe each client is the expert on themselves and has a unique set of skills and abilities they can come to recognize and utilize to help them process and work through their challenges in our sessions.
