The focus of my practice is centered on healing childhood wounds, and holding intention for my clients to be witnessed. I hold space to process through childhood abuse and other adverse childhood experiences, to explore on a deeper level how one's childhood impacts present day. What childhood wounds are manifesting in ways that no longer serve you? As an adult child-survivor, I hold a deep passion for those who have made the vulnerable choice to heal from the pains of their childhood. One life chapter at a time. Remember: The trauma that happened to you is not your fault, but what a gift to give yourself to lean into the responsibility of healing from it. Inner-Child Work framework includes: Narrative sharing, trauma and attachment work, CBT, ACT, experience validation, the practice of letting go, the practice of reclaiming, and accountability work.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I believe transparency is healing within itself. If you are using insurance, first session will be an assessment session, as required by vast insurance providers. I will be reviewing intake information, as well as asking questions to get a better sense of what brings you into services at this time. I also like to use this time for my clients and I to get to know one another, and discuss client goals. In private pay, there is more space for flexibility in how first sessions are held. I acknowledge that first sessions can bring up various feelings and emotions. My goal is to create a space where clients can share within their means of comfort and capacity. My priority is my clients sense of emotional safety, with or without use of insurance. This is in particularly important for clients who have been in treatment before, and might experience harm in having to re-share and re-experience their past wounds and traumas. Especially in a first session. I see you, and will not force you to share anything you are not ready to share.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am passionate about therapy being healing and not harmful. I believe in making treatment accessible, which means holding intentional space in meeting clients where they are. As a therapist who has ample experience working with individuals, both teens and adults, with neurodivergence and significant trauma, I know how to assist my clients in healing, in a way that feels accessible. I understand that even as adults, we are vulnerable in therapy, and that our stories are not entitled to anyone. I challenge clients when I might need to, but do to my years of experience with diverse populations and communities, such as BIPOC, LGBTQ, foster care youth, and those impacted by incarceration, I do it in a way that centers kindness and compassion.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who has come to realize that they are wanting a change in their life, and are curious about what barriers may be getting in their way. I pair best with clients who are able to engage in sessions, and are responsive. Clients who are invested in their healing journey allows the therapist-client relationship to develop, and the therapy process to thrive. As a psychodynamic therapist, I tend to pair best with clients who respond well to talk therapy, and processing aspects of their past. While I don't believe in harboring in the past, I do believe our past made us into who we are today. As an individual and a collective.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I have found in my years of experience, that often, the core of most adult pain is unhealed childhood wounds. What adverse childhood experiences have impacted the adult life you hold today? Are you ready to re-parent yourself and release what no longer serves you? I believe corrective experiences, honoring attachment styles, and being unapologetic about how trauma has impacted your life, can lead to a deeper level of understanding and healing for oneself and others.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Healing can be difficult and challenging, and yet it can be one of the most beautiful things you gift yourself. I believe healing is accomplished through vulnerability and honesty; with oneself. There is a deep healing power in learning to "accept what is", while holding a commitment to change. When ready and your healing is aligned. While we can not change the source of our pain, we can decide how to heal through it.

Compassion Focused

Have you ever told your story? Really told it. Have you ever had a safe space to be seen, validated, and witnessed within your truth? Those holding trauma can often become their worst critic. Many can self-blame, or don't believe they are worthy of a different way of existing. But you are worthy, and your pain is valid. I provide a space where compassion is centered, helping clients define and practice self-compassion during their healing journey. The most valuable relationship we have, is that with ourselves.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a Multi-racial, Black, Disabled Queer Femme, I believe there is no effective means of treatment without centering culture. Who we are, how we walk through the world and how we are perceived, all impact our sense of mental health and wellness. Our identities impact how we experience ourselves and others, and how we hold the complexities of trauma. I uplift these experiences within my practice.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Similar to that of CBT, but with a focus on one's thoughts and cognitive process. Trauma and harmful experiences can alter one's cognitive perceptions, which can become barriers to treatment and healing. With CPT we will explore how you perceive situations in your life and provide tools to gently challenges any distortions that may be keeping you stuck.
