My name is Silvia Escobar and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Southern California. I work with adolescents and adults specializing in depression, anxiety, life transitions, and stress using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better. I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help others feel better about themselves and their circumstances. Throughout my career, individuals have naturally been drawn to share their struggles and difficult life situations with me. I have always been a great listener, and my career has helped me to hone and continue to improve this skill. I take pride in helping people trough difficult times. I enjoy seeing individuals become the best version of themselves. My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral therapy as these modalities help me and the client develop a shared understanding of their current reality, and allow us to work together to build a path forward. My communication style is serene, accommodating, and easygoing. I want my clients to feel comfortable and be at ease talking with me about anything. I pride myself in my ability to listen without imparting judgement.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

What you can expect from our first session together is for us to spend the majority of our time talking about how you have been feeling recently and for me to ask clarifying questions to better understand some of why you may be feeling that way. The first session is about us building an initial connection and helping me get an overall sense of where we should go from there. Every individual is different, and I like to listen first before assuming I know what will work best for you moving forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Throughout my career I have worked with adolescents and adults of all ages who are experiencing anxiety, and depression due to a variety of issues. I find my style and approach is a good fit for teenagers and adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions, relationship issues, social pressures, grief and loss. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, and stress. I work to help my clients navigate these issues and to develop skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook in life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help individuals identify the thoughts and triggers that lead to anger to teach them alternative ways to respond. CBT helps build resilience by teaching individuals how to manage stress and emotional distress. CBT is highly effective in managing mood disorders by targeting negative thought patterns and behaviors that maintain distress. CBT helps parents develop healthier parenting strategies and improve family dynamics.
