New to Grow
Hi there! I’m Julie, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona with 30 years of experience working in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. Whether you're struggling with persistent worry or intrusive thoughts, coping with difficult life transitions, or feeling disconnected from yourself and others, I provide compassionate support tailored to your unique needs.
Our first session will be a chance for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about the challenges you're currently facing and any relevant information that helps me better understand your unique circumstances. This is also a time for you to ask any questions you may have about therapy. Together, we'll identify the goals you wish to achieve in therapy and create a personalized plan to work toward them. As therapy progresses, we'll review your goals, celebrate your growth, and make adjustments as needed to support your changing needs.
Meaningful therapy begins with feeling safe enough to be yourself. One of my strengths is creating a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgemental space where clients feel heard, understood, and respected. I understand that sharing personal struggles can be difficult, and I work to build a trusting relationship at a pace that feels right for you. Together, we can create a space where you feel comfortable exploring challenges, gaining insights, and moving toward positive change. Along with providing a space to talk through what you're experiencing, you will leave sessions with practical tools and strategies you can use in your daily life to better manage challenges and move toward your goals.
Most of the clients that I work with are experiencing anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, or conflicts in their relationships. They often feel stuck in reoccurring patterns that no longer work for them and are ready for change. I enjoy working with clients who are motivated and open to exploring new ways of understanding themselves, navigating challenges, and creating meaningful growth.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and actions affect one another. I teach clients practical tools to challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and build healthier habits to feel better and handle life's challenges more effectively.
Many clients find Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) helpful in learning practical skills to manage intense emotions, handle stress in healthier ways, and improve relationships. At the core of DBT is mindfulness—the practice of bringing attention to the present moment with openness, awareness, and without judgment.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) is a proven therapy that helps clients overcome anxiety and OCD by gradually facing fears in a safe, structured way. Instead of relying on rituals or avoidance for relief, you'll learn how to tolerate discomfort and build confidence that you can handle anxiety without it controlling your life.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an effective treatment that helps clients recover from trauma by identifying and changing unhelpful beliefs that may have developed after difficult experiences. Through guided exercises and discussion, you'll learn new ways of understanding the trauma so it has less impact on your emotions, relationships, and daily life.
The Gottman Method is a couples therapy approach that helps partners improve communication, manage conflict more effectively, and strengthen their emotional connection. You'll learn practical skills to build trust, increase understanding, and create a healthier, more satisfying relationship together.
