I am a human being first: committed to providing personalized, compassionate mental health care to individuals across the lifespan. Equipped with board certifications in family practice and psychiatry, along with a diverse background of experiences, I feel I have a unique ability to care for children, adolescents, and adults from a wide demographic range. I help people with their mental health journeys through caring, thorough assessments that lead to accurate diagnoses, and ultimately the most effective, individualized treatment plans. I have experienced some hard things. But without those things, I would not have the depth of understanding I do to help others with similar hard things.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session is intended for introductions and for a good amount of time to be spent for me to get to know you. I will ask questions, but I will also do a lot of listening. It is important to hear the whole story rather than a 15 minute rundown of a person's life. Details are important. Nuances are important. Everyone has a different story. I want to know yours.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I've been a nurse for 21 years, and have seen much. I've been a mom for longer. I have experience in areas that give me more perspective than most can imagine. I have unique insight into today's issues with teens/social media/technology, the racial tensions I still see present in our society, the struggles with marginalization in the LGBTQ+ community - especially in the south, where I am, and the constant pain caused by abuse/unkindness where it should be least expected. I take my time with patients. I find that when an appointment is rushed, that is when inaccurate diagnoses are made. It is important to listen, and to pay attention. I like to think outside the box as well. There is no "one-size-fits-all" for every patient. Just like we all have distinctive fingerprints, we all have different mental health needs. While I do follow the important guidelines set forth by our governing boards, I work within that framework and pay close attention to my patients, utilizing every available resource I can to ensure the best possible care.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am passionate about helping those who struggle with daily mood swings, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, grief, or healing from trauma. I have extensive experience with physical/sexual trauma (adults and children), child neglect, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Grief (Adjustment Disorder) and more.
Grief Therapy
Grief is an area with which I have more experience than many and understand many ways that humans grieve. Death of a loved one is certainly cause for grief, but there are other life changes that cause the same response in individuals, and it is helpful to identify grief in other situations as well.
Interpersonal
This is the area I enjoyed studying most when in graduate school, making it the main focus of some of my presentation work as I find it most valuable in psychiatric interviewing and psychotherapeutic technique.
Motivational Interviewing
Important technique that all clinicians use to help clients reach goals effectively. Asking thought-provoking questions to help a client reach the right decisions on his/her own is a wonderful way to work.
Trauma Informed Care
Most of my time in psychiatry thus far has been in trauma, working with intense situations with families, foster care, addiction, and more. In some cases, working with domestic violence survivors has been difficult, but rewarding work.
Faith based therapy
For patients seeking it, my approach to this treatment is to seek an integration of faith and other treatments together, seeking what is best for individual cases.

Very knowledgeable and relatable in Narcissism Abuse. Felt safe and non-judged. Would like to continue working with her until I feel much better with myself.
