25 years of experience

I use a wide range of expertise to assist my clients to make the changes they desire using a strength-based and person-centered approach with a pinch of humor in a candid style. My clinical experience includes helping individuals, adults, and couples with issues relating to anxiety, depression, life changes, stress management, anger management, grief and loss, and communication skills. In addition to these areas I have extensive knowledge and practice in assessment and diagnostics which is essential in providing appropriate therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In my experience most people have a lot to say in their first session. My role is to listen. I am present with you and start where you want to start.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My wealth of experience can help you organize and clarify what you want to get out of therapy. Many folks just know they need to talk to someone but don't know what to expect after that. That is where I shine and can make therapy the tool you need for positive change in your life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with adults who find themselves in life transitions. Whether it is a young adult looking to their future with some trepidation, someone in their middle years struggling with all of life's challenges or someone a little later in life with kids going off to college, relationship changing or people of any age experiencing issues due to trauma, past or present.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Learning how your thinking effects the way you respond to situations in your life can be a stepping stone to addressing negative patterns that you have developed. Being able to identify those thinking "errors" and change them can lead to a new way of seeing things and eventually responding to issues/situations/difficulties in new proactive ways.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been proven effective in the treatment of trauma. I was trained by a EMDRIA approved training provider and utilize this approach when appropriate for clients.

Psychoanalytic

I assist clients to explore their past, both distance and recent to understand how things they experienced may play a role in their current feelings, thoughts and behaviors. In understanding why we react, behave, think, the way we do we can begin to develop the tools to change.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Sometimes clients want to address specific issues, have a very clear goal in mind and are ready to focus on achieving that goal. Solution Focused therapy can help by giving concrete tools using a strength based approach in a clear treatment plan that identifies small steps to take to getting to ones goals.
