Madeline Goodman
Hi - I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in PA. I obtained an MS in Counseling and Clinical Psychology from Chestnut Hill College. I work to develop an authentic relationship with young adult and adult clients that allows them to gain insight, perspective and clarity about their lives and their choices. I am committed to the personal growth of my clients by helping them deepen their understanding of the interplay among emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors to help them create richer, more meaningful lives.
First session
In our first session, I'll briefly introduce myself and my approach to treatment. The main purpose of the first session will be for for me to get a sense of what has led you to seek therapy at this time in your life. I will attempt to get a brief sense of the current issues you are facing, as well as some personal/familial context so that I can begin to design a treatment focus that will address your concerns.
Strengths
My strength as a therapist lies in my capacity for emotionally-focused insight. I help clients identity relational and emotional patterns, understand their purpose, and move clients toward emotional growth and increased mental health. I work with clients to establish a trusting, reparative relationship that allows them to heal from past trauma and reduces symptoms that arise from suffering.
Ideal clients
I love working with adult of all ages who are experiencing life transitions or are grappling with overcoming ingrained patterns of emotional, cognitive or behavioral responses. I emphasize each client’s unique historical, cultural, and personal experiences to individualize and maximize treatment outcomes. I believe that while past life experiences and events play a role in shaping our thinking and behavior, we can use the therapeutic process to better understand the impact of these experiences and shift our perspective in relation to them in meaningful ways. I work with adults of all ages and have experience successfully treating with trauma-related and attachment difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief, and life-transition I have a passion for empowering individuals who find themselves in abusive or narcissistic relationships.
