My work supports those struggling with symptoms of anxiety, grief and loss, depression, trauma, interpersonal relationships, life transitions, parenting, communication, and low self-esteem. My practice is inclusive, non-judgmental, culturally responsive, and affirming of LGBTQ+ communities. I offer services in English and Spanish. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist; I earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. I have worked with adults, children, families, and couples in different settings. I hope to join you in your current process and together increase self-awareness, unlearn unhelpful responses to triggers, and increase agency in your life. Whether it is a new stage in life, relationship issues, anxiety, feelings of hopelessness, self-doubt, or something else, we can work towards improving your mental and physical health. On a personal note, I enjoy hiking, spending time with my family, and exploring new cities. I also enjoy visiting coffee shops, propagating plants, and photography.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, answer any questions you might have about therapy, and use most of our time to dive into the specific items that bring you to therapy. This will help us clarify how therapy can support and create clear objectives for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I incorporate a multicultural and social lens to help understand how we relate to the world, others, and ourselves. This can help us to understand, and ultimately, reduce the complex issues that present in intimate relationships, our attachment style, triggers, actions, mood, and other ongoing challenges. My approach works well for those experiencing the break up of a romantic relationship, grief and loss, or any other life transitions.
I love working with those who are highly motivated to discover more about themselves and apply new perspective and tools to their day-to-day lifestyle, relationships, and other ares of value. My clients are eager to form and use long-term tool that help to maintain the type of life experience they seek. They often find themself stuck using old and recurring patterns that are no longer beneficial, and they seek to develop new ways of engaging with themself, others, and the world.
My approach to therapy emphasizes psychodynamic, existential, and systems techniques; however, I customize the therapeutic process to meet your individual goals. My style of therapy encourages gentle exploration of different topics, primary those items that bring you to therapy. This approach can bring insight, help to clarify the presenting challenges, and set meaningful step to improve your quality of life.
