Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your initial session with me as an EMDR-certified therapist, we will conduct a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment. This process involves exploring your physical, emotional, and social background in detail. We'll discuss your life history, current challenges, and the motivations behind seeking therapy. This thorough assessment allows me to understand the full context of your experiences. By gaining a complete picture of your situation, I can develop a tailored treatment plan that addresses your specific needs. This personalized approach ensures that our work together targets the underlying issues and promotes meaningful and lasting healing.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is my commitment to authenticity, often described by clients as "being real." I blend my professional expertise with a down-to-earth, no-nonsense approach, making therapy feel both effective and relatable. This authenticity helps build strong, trusting relationships, allowing clients to feel truly seen and heard. My realness ensures that therapy is not just about clinical techniques but also about creating a safe, compassionate space where clients can tackle their trauma and work towards meaningful healing.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have worked with numerous clients who have faced a wide range of life-altering experiences, including childhood trauma, human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. Additionally, I have helped clients struggling with self-esteem issues, codependency, anxiety, and more.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed care is the foundation of my entire therapy practice and all the treatment methods I implement. I use this approach to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment, acknowledging the widespread impact of trauma and emphasizing the importance of understanding and addressing its effects. By prioritizing safety, trust, and empowerment, trauma-informed care helps clients feel respected and understood. This method involves tailoring treatment to meet each client's unique needs, fostering resilience, promoting healing, and facilitating recovery. By integrating this comprehensive understanding of trauma into therapy, I aim to support clients in regaining autonomy and living life on their own terms.

EMDR

I am certified in EMDR, offering a transformative path for individuals navigating trauma or major life stressors. I implement EMDR using bilateral stimulation—whether through buzzers, a light bar, or headphones—including via telehealth. EMDR reprocesses past traumatic memories and experiences that disrupt daily life or reinforce negative core beliefs like "I am not good enough" or "I am unworthy." This method is proven effective both in-person and through telehealth platforms.

Attachment-based

I focus on understanding and healing the emotional bonds formed in early relationships. This approach helps clients recognize and address patterns stemming from attachment issues that impact their current relationships and self-perception. By fostering a secure therapeutic relationship, we work together to develop healthier attachment patterns, improving emotional regulation, self-esteem, and interpersonal connections. This method is particularly effective in addressing the deep-rooted effects of trauma, promoting overall emotional healing and resilience.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support clients in managing overwhelming emotions and developing effective coping mechanisms. DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices to help clients build skills in distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. By focusing on accepting and balancing emotions, clients learn to navigate their trauma-related responses more effectively. This approach helps clients create healthier relationships, improve emotional stability, and achieve a greater sense of well-being and resilience.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand and change unhelpful thought patterns related to their trauma. By identifying and challenging these negative thoughts, clients can develop healthier, more balanced perspectives. CBT also involves practical strategies for managing anxiety and stress, enhancing coping skills. This evidence-based approach empowers clients to break free from the negative cycles that perpetuate their trauma, promoting lasting emotional and psychological healing.
