I believe that experiencing mental health symptoms does not define who you are. No matter the impact on your life, the ability to cope during crisis can determine how quickly you return to healthy mental functioning. I have learned that in our society, some strive to have approval from others, while many struggle with intrusive thoughts or abnormal behaviors stemming from experiences with various traumas, abuses, lifestyles or identities. As an LPC I want to provide a safe haven for all populations, in a setting where judgment is nonexistent and the person is placed before the symptom by using an eclectic style tailored for each individual need. I graduated with a Master of Science in clinical psychology, with a specialization in clinical counseling in January 2019. I have experience with homelessness, child welfare, acute child and adolescent therapy, families, couples, adolescents, children as well as adults and substance use disorders. In both the community and within for-profit behavioral health institutions.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect a positive, healthy, non-judgmental and empathetic approach to getting to know them and how I may be of service in their pursuit of positive mental health. I feel that learning about what allows them to be comfortable with speaking with me and allowing them to set the pace during the session is most important in the first session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that seeing individuals as people who have mental health challenges as opposed to directing my attention to a diagnosis is the best way to build healthy relationships and trust with the clients I serve. I believe that my ability to abstain from preconceived notions when working with individuals allows me to be authentic and provide the best possible treatment.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have been certified in using this method since 2018. I've worked with adults and children in various agencies, homeless shelters and substance-addicted environments, as well as in hospital settings, and private practice. This treatment method has helped me to work with symptoms of anxiety, depression, mood and personality disorders. It is a wonderful tool to assist individuals with emotion regulation, sobriety, mindfulness and meditation.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I've worked with adults and children in various agencies, homeless shelters and substance-addicted environments, as well as in hospital settings, and private practice. This treatment method has helped me to work with symptoms of anxiety, depression, mood and personality disorders in efforts to change maladaptive behaviors by changing thought processing and promoting positive mental health.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I've worked with adults and children in various agencies, homeless shelters and substance-addicted environments, as well as in hospital settings, and private practice. This treatment method has helped me to work with symptoms of anxiety, depression, mood and personality disorders. This method has assisted in allowing the client to have autonomy in their therapy and has promoted trust with individuals I have served, which led to positive outcomes.

Eclectic

I feel that I do not have one treatment method as I choose methodology based upon individual need and their personal experiences with their specific condition. In my experience there is not a one size fits all process to providing quality services and mental health support. For this reason, I believe that I have at some point utilized most treatment methods although I generally use DBT, CBT and Person-centered approaches most often.
