(she/her)
Hi, I'm Farrah — a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) based in California. I specialize in supporting women through some of the most hormonally and emotionally complex seasons of life, including postpartum depression, PMDD, anxiety, and mood disorders. As a woman myself, I understand how deeply physical and emotional health are intertwined. I am also a clinical mentor to future NPs and PAs — because I believe great psychiatric care starts with a commitment to lifelong learning, evidence-based practice, and genuinely putting patients first. My goal is to educate and empower you so that you are always an informed, active participant in your own care.
Our first session is about getting to know you — not just your symptoms, but your story. We'll talk about your history, current medications, what's been hard, and what you're hoping for. I'll also take time to explain my thinking as we go, because I believe you should understand your diagnosis and your options — not just receive a prescription. From there, we build a plan together that feels right for your life.
As a PMHNP, I treat the whole picture — hormonal, neurological, emotional, and social. I prescribe and manage psychiatric medications with care and precision, but I lead with education first: what's happening in your body, why, and what your options are. I regularly mentor the next generation of psychiatric providers, which keeps me sharp, current, and deeply committed to evidence-based care. Most importantly, I believe the best outcomes happen when you are in the driver's seat — informed, heard, and in control of your treatment.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to understand their mental health — not just manage it. Whether you're navigating postpartum depression, mood shifts tied to your cycle, long-standing anxiety or depression you're finally ready to address, or simply feeling like something is off and you can't quite name it — you belong here. I work best with clients who want to be educated partners in their care. You don't need to have it all figured out before our first session — you just need to be open. I'll meet you where you are, explain everything in plain language, and make sure every decision we make together is one you truly understand and feel good about. I have a deep respect for the complexity of mental health — the way hormones, life transitions, relationships, identity, and biology all intersect. If you've ever felt dismissed, over-medicated without explanation, or like your concerns weren't taken seriously — I want to be the provider who changes that experience for you.
Other specialties
I identify as
Integrative
I don't believe in one-size-fits-all psychiatry. My integrative approach means medication management and psychotherapy work together — alongside your lifestyle, values, and goals — to create a treatment plan that is comprehensive, personalized, and built around what is safest and most effective for you.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is one of the most well-researched, evidence-based tools in psychiatric care — and I use it from day one. Together we'll identify thought patterns and behaviors that may be fueling your symptoms, and I'll teach you exactly why they work the way they do. Understanding the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions isn't just therapeutic — it's empowering. We'll build practical skills for challenging negative patterns, increasing meaningful activities, and developing mindfulness habits that support long-term emotional regulation. Progress is tracked and the plan adjusts as you grow.
Psychoeducation
One of the most powerful things I can offer you is understanding. Psychoeducation means I take the time to explain your diagnosis, your treatment options, how your medications work, and why your brain and body are responding the way they are. An informed patient is an empowered patient — and in my experience, people heal faster and more completely when they understand what's happening and feel in control of their care. No jargon, no rushing — just clarity.
Motivational Interviewing
Change is hard — and nobody should be pressured into a treatment plan they don't believe in. Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, non-judgmental approach I use to help clients explore their own readiness for change, identify what matters most to them, and build genuine internal motivation. I'm not here to tell you what to do. I'm here to help you get clear on what you want — and then support you in getting there safely and sustainably.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness isn't just a buzzword — it's a clinically supported practice that can fundamentally change how you relate to your thoughts, emotions, and body. I incorporate mindfulness-based techniques to help clients slow down the anxiety spiral, increase present-moment awareness, and build emotional resilience over time. This is especially powerful for those navigating PMDD, postpartum mood changes, or chronic stress, where the mind and body are deeply interconnected. You don't need to meditate for hours — just learn to notice, and we build from there.

Love that she gets straight to the point. I also enjoy that she explains the science behind what the medication does.

First of all, why can I only choose two things that stand out about Farrah? I was very hesitant to start this process. I don't think it's something anyone enjoys or looks forward to. I came into our first session mid anxiety attack and trying to keep it together (I didn't) but, it ended in laughter. Farrah is extremely easy to talk to, she is a great listener and doesn't sound like she's quoting a text book when she talks. This is not enough space for this. She's A+ highly recommend. Thank you!!
