My name is Sergena and I'm so grateful to be part of your healing journey. In my work as a social worker, I have traveled all over the United States providing services to individuals and systems in need. My therapeutic style is largely eclectic, meaning I use different styles depending on who my client is and what their concerns are. I am trained in TF-CBT, ACT, CBT, and am presently studying Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. My primary focus is trauma, though I also work closely with those with co-occuring substance use disorders and mood disorders.
In our first session, I will be getting to know you and your history. That first session often feels like an interview as I'm gathering relevant data. We will normally set some short term and long term goals together, and if time allows, we may begin to do some introspection. While I encourage you to ask questions throughout treatment, this session is where you can ask anything you want about therapy, treatment, and expectations.
I am able to treat a variety of people in different settings. While I love the high acuity that comes with an inpatient level of care, my clients in the community get the most out of me because we are not bound by time constraints.
My clients are people who have lived difficult lives, whether that be in childhood, young adulthood, adulthood, and beyond. I work closely with you to stabilize your most active symptoms, then we begin the deep work of uncovering and healing from the traumas encountered along your journey. I focus on healing relationships, with the goal that it generalizes across different areas of your life.
