New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor (LPC-S) with more than 30 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds. Throughout my career, I have helped clients navigate a wide range of emotional and relational challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, addiction, and major life transitions. Many people seek therapy when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward, and my role is to provide guidance, clarity, and practical support during those difficult times. My approach to therapy is compassionate, structured, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I believe that meaningful change begins with feeling safe, understood, and respected. I strive to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their concerns and exploring solutions. Together, we work to identify patterns that may be contributing to distress, develop effective coping strategies, and strengthen communication and problem-solving skills. I work with young professionals, adults, couples, and families who are seeking to improve their emotional well-being, strengthen relationships, and build confidence in their ability to manage life’s challenges. Whether you are facing stress, emotional difficulties, relationship concerns, or adjusting to significant life changes, therapy can provide the tools and insight needed to move forward. My goal is to help patients gain a deeper understanding of themselves, develop resilience, and create meaningful, lasting change that supports long-term emotional health and personal growth.
Your first session is designed to provide a clear understanding of your concerns while creating a safe and supportive space to begin the therapeutic process. During this session, we will explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss your current challenges, and review relevant personal and emotional history. I will also take time to understand your goals, strengths, and expectations so we can begin developing a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs. Many patients arrive feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or unsure of where to begin. My role is to guide you through this process with professionalism, compassion, and structure. You can expect thoughtful questions, active listening, and a respectful environment where your experiences are valued. By the end of the first session, you will have a clearer understanding of the next steps, the direction of treatment, and how we will work together to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or major life transitions. My goal is for you to leave the session feeling supported, understood, and confident in the path forward.
One of my greatest strengths is my depth of clinical experience combined with a compassionate and structured approach to therapy. I have been providing counseling services since 1992 and am licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor (LPC-S) in Louisiana and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. Over the years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, addiction, and major life transitions. I am known for creating a supportive yet goal-oriented environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes. I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed methods, including EMDR when appropriate. My focus is on helping clients identify patterns, strengthen coping skills, improve communication, and build confidence in their ability to move forward. Patients often appreciate my ability to balance empathy with practical strategies, offering both emotional support and clear direction. My goal is to help clients achieve lasting change and develop the tools needed to navigate future challenges with confidence.
n my practice, I serve a diverse range of individuals, couples, and youth from various backgrounds and life stages. I am committed to providing compassionate, culturally responsive care that meets each client’s unique needs. I work with young professionals and adults who are navigating life transitions, career stress, relationship challenges, and personal growth. Many of my clients seek support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress management, and relationship conflicts. I also support individuals who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward in their personal or professional lives. Additionally, I provide services to individuals experiencing emotional distress related to major life changes, family concerns, or ongoing interpersonal difficulties. My goal is to help clients develop practical coping skills, improve emotional well-being, and build healthier relationships. I also work with couples who are seeking to improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their relationships, as well as youth and adolescents who may be experiencing behavioral, emotional, or social challenges. My practice is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to achieve meaningful change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the primary treatment approaches used in my practice. CBT is an evidence-based therapy that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through this structured and collaborative approach, clients learn to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors that may be contributing to emotional distress. In my practice, I use CBT to help clients develop practical skills to manage anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and other emotional challenges. Sessions often include identifying negative thought patterns, building healthier coping strategies, improving problem-solving skills, and practicing new behaviors that support emotional well-being. CBT is goal-oriented and tailored to each individual’s needs. Clients are encouraged to actively participate in the therapeutic process, both during sessions and through exercises between sessions, to reinforce skills and promote lasting change. My approach emphasizes creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to make meaningful progress in their lives.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – In-Person Sessions Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy used in my practice to help clients process and heal from traumatic or distressing experiences. EMDR is offered in person only, as this format allows for close monitoring of client responses and the use of specialized techniques that support safety and effectiveness during treatment. In EMDR sessions, I guide clients through a structured process that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they become less overwhelming over time. This approach uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or other sensory techniques, to support the brain’s natural healing abilities. EMDR may be helpful for individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, panic, grief, or other distressing life events. My approach to EMDR is trauma-informed and paced according to each client’s readiness, ensuring that clients feel supported, safe, and in control throughout the process. Preparation and stabilization skills are taught before trauma processing begins, helping clients build confidence and emotional regulation skills. Because EMDR involves specialized techniques and close therapeutic support, sessions are conducted in person only to provide the highest level of care and responsiveness to client needs.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, client-centered approach I use to help individuals explore and strengthen their motivation for change. This method is especially helpful for clients who feel uncertain, stuck, or ambivalent about making changes in their lives. In my practice, I use Motivational Interviewing to support clients in identifying their personal goals, values, and reasons for change. Rather than directing or pressuring clients, I create a supportive environment where they feel heard, respected, and empowered to make their own decisions. Through guided conversations, reflective listening, and thoughtful questioning, clients are able to gain clarity about their choices and build confidence in their ability to move forward. Motivational Interviewing can be beneficial for individuals working through issues such as behavior change, substance use concerns, health-related goals, relationship challenges, and life transitions. This approach helps clients resolve uncertainty, increase self-awareness, and take meaningful steps toward lasting, positive change.
Couples Counseling
Couples Therapy Couples therapy in my practice focuses on helping partners strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and develop healthier ways of relating to one another. I work with couples to better understand patterns in their relationship, identify areas of conflict, and learn practical skills to improve connection and mutual understanding. In sessions, I provide a supportive and neutral environment where both partners feel heard and respected. Couples are guided in learning effective communication techniques, conflict-resolution skills, and strategies to express needs and emotions in constructive ways. I help partners explore underlying issues that may be contributing to tension, such as stress, life transitions, past experiences, or unmet expectations. Couples therapy may be helpful for partners experiencing communication difficulties, frequent conflict, trust concerns, parenting challenges, or changes in their relationship. My approach emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and building skills that support long-term relationship health and emotional connection.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Youth Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based approach I use in my practice to help children and adolescents develop healthy coping skills, emotional awareness, and resilience. ACT focuses on helping youth learn how to manage difficult thoughts and feelings while building confidence in making choices that align with their values. In my practice, Youth ACT is tailored to be developmentally appropriate and engaging. I use age-appropriate language, interactive activities, and practical exercises to help young clients understand their emotions and learn skills such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, and problem-solving. Youth are encouraged to accept difficult feelings without becoming overwhelmed by them, while also learning how to take positive steps toward their goals. Youth ACT can be helpful for children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, school-related stress, social difficulties, or life transitions. My approach emphasizes creating a safe, supportive environment where young clients feel understood and empowered to build confidence, improve coping skills, and develop greater flexibility in managing life’s challenges.
