I am a licensed therapist with more than two decades of experience providing counseling, therapy and consultation to people struggling with trauma, grief and loss, depression and anxiety. I help people develop confidence, identify strategies for coping and attain inner strength. My practice is founded on psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy. As an Asian American woman of color and daughter of immigrant parents, I have a holistic understanding of how race, culture, gender, economic background history and systematic oppression impacts mental health and wellness.
The first session is focused on what your current challenges and stressors are, and what you would like therapy to help you with. I also explore your strengths, resilience, and overall goals/hopes might be. If it's unclear to you, I will help with giving a sense of direction for our work together based on what we discuss. From there we discuss a plan for the upcoming sessions.
I develop trusting relationships with my clients from the beginning because my approach is non-judgmental and personalized. My expertise has developed over time, based on specialized educational training and extensive experience working with people of diverse backgrounds. My own experience with healing and wellness strategies also offers an enhanced understanding and increased empathy.
I enjoy working with people who have the motivation to use therapy for guidance, support, insight, to alleviate stress, to heal and to make changes in their lives. I work well with individuals struggling with all kinds of life stress, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, life changes, loss, and other stressors.
In my practice, I integrate and utilize psychodynamic, relational, CBT and trauma-informed therapy based on the needs of each client.
