LCSW, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
Welcome, it is great to have you here! My name is Marielle and I have been in the social work field for 5+ years working with individuals with disabilities, at-risk youth, and individuals experiencing food insecurity. My specialties within a therapy setting include working with individuals with chronic illness, OCD, and anxiety disorders. While these are my specialties, everyone is welcome in this space. I look forward to meeting you!
Our first session will include introductions and generally getting to know you. I will ask questions about your concerns and goals in therapy. You will also be able to start to determine if you think that I would be a good fit for you.
I always take a client a client-centered approach. This means that your therapy practice is completely tailored to you and we will collaborate to best achieve your goals.
While I specialize in chronic illness, OCD, and anxiety disorders, everyone is welcome in this space. In some cases I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). This is a very effective practice but it is not always appropriate for every person and every circumstance. No matter what the reason that you chose to come to therapy is, we will work together to find effective coping skills and ways to improve your quality of life. It is very important to me that my clients are able to determine how the course of their therapy practice goes. In this space, it is all about you and your needs. I am here to be a collaborator.
All of my therapeutic work is through the lens of being trauma-informed.
CBT is an effective tool in appropriate cases. This is not an appropriate method to use with all people or in all scenarios.
I use elements of DBT such as mindfulness practices, emotional regulation, radical acceptance, and journaling. The specific approach used is tailored to you as an individual and will look different with every person that I work with.
Psychoeducation is a long word that means explaining mental health conditions as they relate to you. This is a research-back strategy that I use as part of my therapeutic practice.
I believe that it is important to focus on your strengths when working towards your therapeutic goals. I take a strengths based approach with every client.
