Roxanna Miller
My therapy skills are significantly supported by the accumulation of wisdom imparted through life experience. I provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental environment for adults to heal from past and present trauma that may be causing current distress in their lives or may be holding clients back from achieving their goals. I help clients uncover core irrational beliefs about themselves and guide individuals to success as defined by the client. The modalities I use are EMDR, CBT, Grief Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
First session
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Strengths
Having work with adults for the past 15 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
Ideal clients
I love working with adults who are eager to alleviate distress, and eager to improve feelings of confidence, safety and security through a positive way forward but do not yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their lives.
Treatment methods
EMDR
The primary focus of EMDR is processing past memories and trauma. Key techniques involve bilateral stimulation usually through eye movements, and processing thoughts, images, feelings in association with client’s presenting concerns. EMDR is less structured and directive than CBT with a typically shorter term of treatment with the ultimate goal being trauma resolution, and relief of stress. No self-practice is required although, methods of grounding are taught and encouraged to be used outside of session when needed.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a structured type of talk therapy. I use CBT to assist individuals in moving past feelings of anxiety, depression and PTSD through awareness of inaccurate/negative thinking and teach individuals how to practice and achieve replacing inaccurate thoughts with positive/accurate thoughts about one’s self. CBT can be an effective tool and helping individuals manage stressful life situations and used as a standalone or in combination of other therapies.
Grief Therapy
Grief therapy is specifically designed for those experiencing loss of a loved one or pet, job transition, Moving related loss, Break-up, divorce or other changes in romantic relationships causing bereavement. I meet my clients on their terms I am here solely as a guide not to judge or change; yet to listen and knowledge their current state of being.
