I have practiced for over 15 years both in private practice and in community mental health and addiction medicine clinics. My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in a unified approach to the science of psychology that assimilates and integrates key insights from the major approaches (e.g., CBT, humanistic, psychodynamic, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy) into a more coherent whole. I believe the function of psychotherapy is to effectively move individuals toward their goals of less (unnecessary) suffering, improved functioning, and greater overall fulfillment.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing with an "actions I can take right now" approach. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My eclectic experience has fostered a unique ability to connect with clients of diverse backgrounds and with a broad range of life challenges and transitions. Early in my career I read a passage that has informed my life and work, "Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom". We each have the ability to cultivate awareness of personal triggers, create a pause and choose our response from our own wisdom. As we actively engage this journey we naturally change our relationship to discomfort and foster a nonjudgmental, compassionate approach toward ourselves, others and our experiences. I look forward to providing the support you may need on your journey to health, wellness and freedom.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Simply put my ideal client is motivated toward working together to create the change they seek. When you're ready to leave the stress and discomfort you are feeling behind, I'm prepared to help you. Schedule our first session and get you on the road to feeling better today.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness therapy combines mindfulness practices with therapeutic techniques to help individuals become more aware of the present moment. This approach reduces stress & anxiety by encouraging non-judgmental acceptance of thoughts & emotions. Incorporating mindfulness into daily routines enhances emotional regulation & overall wellbeing.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Goal-setting is the foundation of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. One of the tenets of SFBT is a positive, respectful, and hopeful outlook on the part of the clinician. I maintain the assumption that you have the strength, wisdom, experience, and resilience to effect change.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Working with a me, you will learn to listen to your own self-talk or the way you talk to yourself specifically about traumatic events, problematic relationships, physical limitations, or other challenges. You can then decide if a problem requires immediate action and change or if it can, or must, be accepted for what it is while you learn to make behavioral changes that can modify the situation.
