New clients continue care with this provider
I am a first generation Vietnamese-American refugee and daughter of immigrants. Through my personal and professional experiences, I understand the impact of trauma and emotional pain in many people’s lives and witnessed the journey it took to heal and live with trauma for myself. I specialize in generational trauma with an integration of mental health treatment approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational therapy, trauma informed therapy, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and strengths-based approach.
In our first session, I will ask a lot of questions about your background and history revolving the reason you are seeking mental health care. In order to fully understand how I can help you, a thorough assessment will guide us to what our work will look like together in future sessions. The first appointment will also help you and I build rapport and to discuss whether we are a good fit as therapist and client. My success with clients throughout my career is built on the therapeutic alliance and it is important that you feel comfortable and safe to come to your weekly sessions and share about yourself. If we are not a good match, I will do my best to give recommendations for follow-up with someone who would be a better fit.
In my practice, I integrate mental health care along with physical health care to help my clients. My experiences include working with clients in community mental health, healthcare setting, and private practice providing virtual telehealth. I've been in this field for 10 years and what I offer is genuine, authentic, and compassionate care to my clients. I am passionate about mental health care and prevention and am strongly committed to helping improve the outlook of people’s mental and physical well-being for a healthier future in our respective communities.
It takes a lot of courage to seek mental health care and change can be uncomfortable. The ideal client for me would be those who struggle with generational trauma and dysfunctional family dynamics in need of help to break the cycle and are wiling to commit to attending weekly therapy to do the work. Therapy with me will be a collaborative approach to guide you through life’s challenges, recognize underlying root causes of unhealthy thought or behavior patterns, and help you create the change that you want to achieve in a safe and supportive space.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients recognize underlying root causes of unhealthy thought or behavior patterns that affect how they feel so they can work towards having healthier coping strategies and behaviors.
Motivational interviewing will be used to help you explore feelings of ambivalence, uncertainties, or fear that prevent you from exercising the change you want to working towards creating change.
I use this approach to help clients identify and use strengths that they already have to apply to the work they are doing in therapy as well as navigate life's challenges.
