25 years of experience
My undergraduate degree is in Physical Education/English from the University of Texas/Arlington. I taught high school English and coached women's basketball, volleyball, track and cross country before completing my Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. I find that my coaching and teaching experience enhance my skills as a therapist as I connect with people easily and gain their respect and trust rather quickly and am able to motivate them to become their bestself. I have experience providing therapy for police and fire department personnel as well as the military community. I was a Department of Defense counselor providing substance abuse counseling, then as an employee of MHN providing counseling for military personnel and their family members dealing with loss, PTSD, and multiple deployments. I created an intensive outpatient program for felony probation and provided substance abuse treatment to felons referred by the courts.
