I am firmly rooted in the belief that the therapeutic process is a symbiotic collaboration between therapist and client. Regardless of whether you're navigating a temporary challenge and seeking targeted, solution-driven guidance, or grappling with a persistent concern that requires long-term therapeutic involvement, there are moments when we all benefit from external assistance. I recognize the importance of individualizing therapeutic interventions. Everyone's journey is distinct, influenced by their unique life experiences, cultural backgrounds, and individual belief systems. It's essential to take a comprehensive view, taking into account not just the present symptoms but the whole person and their life narrative. By understanding each person’s individual story, I can offer more tailored guidance and interventions. This personalized approach not only addresses the immediate concerns but also empowers clients to better handle future challenges with increased confidence and self-awareness. I earned my doctorate degree from the esteemed California School of Professional Psychology. My professional journey has seen me serve in a range of environments. This journey includes my work at the UCLA Anxiety Disorder Clinic, where, as a psychological assistant under a seasoned psychologist, I honed my skills in managing anxiety disorders. My expertise also extends to substance abuse environments, both in acute inpatient psychiatric hospital, as well as outpatient clinics, where I've addressed the intricate dance between anxiety, depression, and addiction. My work in collegiate settings, such as President Barack Obama’s alma mater, has equipped me with insights into the stresses and anxieties faced by students navigating academic pressures and life's pivotal decisions. Furthermore, In the unique and challenging setting of maximum security prisons. Where as a forensic psychologist, I've supported inmates, including those serving life sentences, through the complex emotional landscapes of anxiety and depression linked to their circumstances. My therapeutic approach is anchored in both cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic theory. Typically, I employ psychodynamic perspectives to facilitate deeper insights into the origins of a client's psychological concerns. This understanding then serves as a foundation upon which we build a CBT-driven treatment plan, ensuring you're well-equipped to achieve your therapeutic objectives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, you'll find a warm, open environment where your story is honored and your experiences are deeply valued. From the outset, we establish our relationship as a collaborative partnership, where your voice and perspective are central to the therapeutic process. I'll introduce you to a holistic approach that not only addresses your immediate concerns but also considers your entire life narrative, cultural background, and individual belief systems. We'll begin by exploring the reasons that brought you to therapy, setting the stage for a journey of mutual discovery. I'll share how my expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic theory can offer a dual lens through which we can understand and navigate your challenges. You'll learn how this blend of approaches informs a personalized treatment plan tailored specifically to you, aiming not just for short-term relief but for lasting growth and self-awareness. Expect to engage in an open dialogue about what you hope to achieve through therapy, and together, we'll outline the initial steps towards your goals. This session is as much about getting to know each other as it is about laying the groundwork for your therapeutic journey. My goal is to make you feel seen, understood, and hopeful about the path ahead. Whether you're facing acute issues or seeking deeper insight into longstanding patterns, our first session is the beginning of a tailored therapeutic experience designed to empower and support you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider stem from a deeply rooted belief in the power of a collaborative therapeutic relationship, extensive experience across a variety of settings, and a nuanced approach to treatment that integrates cognitive behavioral therapy with psychodynamic insights. One of my key strengths lies in the ability to create a therapeutic space where clients feel genuinely heard and valued, fostering a partnership that is both empowering and transformative. My diverse background, which spans from substance abuse treatment centers to forensic psychology in maximum security prisons, has equipped me with the ability to understand and navigate the complex interplay of psychological issues across different populations. This experience has honed my skill in tailoring therapy to the individual, considering not just their immediate concerns but their entire life story and personal context. Moreover, my expertise in combining the structured, goal-oriented strategies of CBT with the depth-oriented, insight-generating focus of psychodynamic theory allows me to offer clients a comprehensive approach to healing. This dual perspective not only addresses the symptoms but also uncovers and works through the underlying causes of psychological distress. In essence, my greatest strength lies in my commitment to personalized, compassionate care that acknowledges the unique journey of each client, providing them with the tools and understanding needed to navigate life’s challenges with greater resilience and self-awareness.
