Our sessions will create a brave space for you to look in the mirror, let your emotions out and become aware of any patterns that contribute to your life and mental health challenges. You get to decide what changes or shifts you want to make. You choose when and how to center your wellness, and I will guide you, hold space for you and teach you about honoring your capacity with boundaries. I believe it is possible to create the life that you want and deserve. Working with me will get you a bilingual LCSW that is culturally centered and has over 19 years of clinical experience to offer you. My approach is holistic, strength-based and centered around uplifting you and helping you connect to any ancestral wisdom that can support your journey. My work is rooted in Liberation Psychology and I always have a Social Justice framework
In our first session someone can expect an honest dialogue about treatment planning, goals and any clinical impressions and diagnosis that are being considered. The session will focus on gathering history and life events that are important to understand your identities and relationships. An emphasis will be placed on current life challenges, symptoms and how they impact your day-to-day, along with a collaborative conversation regarding if we are a match.
Treatment modalities that are used are : Trauma Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Patients who work with me will have their treatment individualized and designed considering their life circumstances, culture, values and identities.
My approach is strength-based as I explore where the person is motivated to begin, while realistically looking at what the most pressing issues are . I understand I have worked with many first-generation young adults who are adjusting to college life or other phases of adulthood. I assist patients look at generational patterns such as intergenerational trauma and also help them access their intergenerational strengths and resilience.
My ideal client would be a person who is motivated to make the necessary shifts and wants to utilize a therapeutic space to identify a path to resolve or minimize challenges. During the course of treatment, the person will also be guided to build community, build a support system and identify what will replace therapy once gains are made.
