(he/him)
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing individual therapy services to residents of California. I hold a Masters in Social Work from the Smith College School for Social Work and a Masters of Fine Arts from Cal Arts. Since graduation, I have worked for a mental health clinic in Skid Row, Los Angeles providing mental health services for folks living on the street. I served in myriad positions for this clinic over the years including as Director of the site. My style is conversational and relational. I work with my clients to collaboratively understand complex personal histories, and assist in the working through of past events and relationships in an effort to forge towards new futures and ways of understanding ourselves.
I typically spend two initial sessions covering the specifics of your circumstances, as well as gathering pertinent information from your past that would inform your current situation. These sessions help us to develop a path going forward, and will also give us the time to continue to assess your level of comfort and safety in working with me and whether my style and conceptualizations resonate with you.
I focus on developing an in-depth understanding of my clients' experiences and how they impact and influence their current situation. I have 8 years of working with individuals living with depression, anxiety, PTSD and major life transitions, and feel well equipped to learn, build trust and affect change in my clients lives.
I have a good deal of experience assisting with the navigation of life transitions, struggles with overwhelming feelings, living with anxiety and depression, and helping folks with seeking deeper understandings of reactions that no longer serve their needs.
Psychodynamic
I work from a psychodynamic model that considers the past as paramount to understanding our current functioning, and provide a supportive, empathetic and introspective space to address where my clients are, and what new options lay ahead.
